  • No, that is the healthy/least draining thing to do, the militant and most effective thing to do is relentlessly shit on corporate social media with your old corpo account while moving the rest of your social identity to the fediverse.

Obnoxiously link to the fediverse, talk about it unprompted, strip mine the relevance of your posts to the algorithm before you leave.

I am not saying everyone has to do this, I am not even necessarily recommending it as a general suggestion but this is clearly the best way to hate on billionaire social media and fight back against it. Don’t throw away the value of your social connections to the corpo algorithm without first converting as much as possible of it to awareness of the fediverse and how shitty corpo social media is, if your objective is to fight as hard as possible.

  • I don’t even think it will take many jobs permanently, but to your point it never mattered if AI works or can actually replace human beings at work, all that matters is that people believe it will and then that means that companies can fire large amounts of workers and hire them back under permanently “temporary” positions that pay less, have less stability and condescend the humanity of the worker at a basic level by framing their labor as a temporary substitution for a superior LLM/“AI” to eventually step in and replace.

It is the SAME EXACT STORY as how Uber from the beginning framed its human drivers as temporary… even as dreams of self driving cars have faded from any serious discussion in the near term… the mistreatment, devaluing and dehumanization were successfully codified into the rideshare industry which was always the goal in the first place.

Which isn’t to say that plenty of CEOs haven’t drank the KoolAid on AI and are totally lost in the sauce, but two things can be true at the same time…

  • I am so tired of these losers like Rimu who can’t accept the politics of average people have evolved past them and so they claw at these truly pathetic methods of attempting to silence and manipulate people.

It is disgusting and it underlines how toxic and extreme self proclaimed “moderates” or “centrists” can be.

I am a “radical leftist” but I will never resort to these kinds of underhanded and sad tactics undertaken by someone who is clearly lashing out from a perceived loss of power and status.

I aim to convince people of my points, not blatantingly manipulate and micromanage what people can see so they adopt my world views based on faulty premises.

Shame on you Rimu, you sad, toxic troll living under a bridge.

  • Unfortunately no the extreme weather conditions right now are not really a product of El Nino, I mean they are to a degree but we have only fairly recently actually moved into an El Nino proper… what they are is a product of much more worrying extreme global sea surface temperatures that have dominated for the last several years.

To put it another way, the big swing in chaotic weather frequency and shifts of zones of precipitation and dry zones we are experiencing right now is a much more monumental signal that El Nino will graft onto in ways that… well we aren’t really sure what ways that this interaction will happen…

  • In a sense this AI bubble is really two things, it is partially a bullshit bubble full of idiots and it is partially an embodiment of the basic philosophy of Sun Tzu demonstrating the act of losing a war before it has ever begun by becoming obsessed with pouring everything into a costly illusion that only the elite are really enamored by.

The same thing with the F35, that thing is a thesis and world monument to the philosophy that the way to win a war is by making the opponent lose on multiple levels before you begin the outright war part. It doesn’t matter how well the F35 works or doesn’t work, the amount of resources and waste have already “lost a war” entirely from the diversion of a Trillion plus dollars of resources that could have transformed the US in any number of other more productive directions. The F35 already lost an entire war before it ever even fought in a battle.
