She was always good at writing preposterously evil people, it only stands to reason.

Wasn’t their country created specifically because of another government who thought mass executions of their “enemies” was a good thing?
Yes which is where the essential hypocrisy occurs that is necessary to sustain empire and create two realities that are pruned back violently until one cannot see the other through the spectacle of the roaring volcano of hypocrisy.
What is noteworthy isn’t the hypocrisy, it is what the use of the hypocrisy as a tool suggests as a motive by the leaders that have nurtured this set of conditions.
