Sweet I’m checking this out! I like the idea of truly owning the data like a lot of other decentralized or federated projects are doing.

Hell yeah! Great perspective.

Very nice! This makes total sense. Let me rebuttal with Enshittification
“Here is how platforms die: first, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die.”
Microsoft is good at fucking up platforms they acquire! Lately they’ve just been more patient with it.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. As a non Dev, I more or less assumed it was more pet projects and foss apps than business repos or projects.
I also felt like if projects are linked on a company or business website to bitbucket or codeberg, etc, it wouldn’t matter because it’s getting exposure that way. And also assuming a git repo basically functions the same way regardless of where it’s hosted with some minor differences in tools.

I think Microsoft learned their lesson finally on fucking up acquisitions (talking Mixer especially lol) where they buy out a platform but then curse it with their touch and it fails. Now, with LinkedIn and Github, they sort of leave it be with subtle and incremental changes because then petiole continue to adopt it. Now its like FB or Snapchat where people are there bc they think everyone else is there (assuming). Idk, it sucks.

I’ve just been freeing up my phone and life from all major data siphons. Social media has been gone for years, but then news about LinkedIn getting way worse with data (which it’s already sucked) and sharing now with Amazon, is just BS so I’ve closed it.
One REALLY annoying thing I’ve personally noticed and can’t confirm but feel it; all the companies with jobs postings basically collect all these applicants data without ever hiring. It’s another dataset that can be monetized, so now companies can make money off everyone without much effort. Through some efforts I’ve read online as all as gone through myself, we all know there job market sucks-especially tech, but I guess I never considered why there are so so many posted jobs still until now.
Fuck them all!!

Is gas not included? Cuz that shit is up 50% at least! Can’t wait for May’s report

Bring it! Better vehicles, better pricing, better technology. Oh darn.

Can you mark Flock cameras? I think I saw someone post that before.

Brooklyn 99. Terry Crews is happily married, drives a minivan, is neurotypical, and definitely is a rule follower. However, he’s not the main character technically…

Why is he always in a black leather jacket?

Oh dang I didn’t realize! Thank you!! I was just starting to look at those things myself and wanted to also avoid GH. Plus Gitea was available on Yunohost too. I’ve heard of Codeberg, I’ll see if I can host that instead. It’s too bad other companies don’t move away from GH…

Host a Gitea?

Nice! That so actually works? Most carrier blocks will stop the calls from ringing but I still get a voicemail from them.

Fucking idiots!! What about all the VoIP phone apps? What about number spoofing apps?
It’s illegal and happens anyway right now, so how would this actually stop any of them from happening? You know what would probably REALLY actually help?! Stop these fucking companies from buying and selling consumer data like commodities and there amount of phone calls would likely drop. No access to numbers means no way to know what number is active. It’d be a huge waste of time and deter these bad actors probably better than what’s in place now.
For anyone who wants relief: start by switching to a private messaging so like Signal and get your friends/family to switch. Get a new phone number and ONLY share with those who needed it for emergencies. Get a “burner” app # from Burner, Hushed (or hell, even Google voice with a junk account if you must) etc to use for banks, utilities, job applications, etc. Forward those calls through the app to your main number if preferred for calls it send them straight to voicemail.
You can also look into getting a private SIM service from Calyx https://calyx.org/membership/internet if you really don’t want carriers tracking and selling your data, too.
I have a referral link, too, for a free month. https://members.calyx.org/r/iarby

Annke is Hikvision hardware, but direct to consumer, can be viewed directly over IP address over a multitude of apps (including FOSS) or webpage, can directly record to micro SD card so no online cloud or NVR needed. You can configure remote viewing over dynamic domain too.
THEY OFFER UHD/4K/8MP cameras with color night vision even that’s insanely clear.
The downside is they’re typically meant for 10ft+viewing distance. They do offer a special bird feeder camera with a solar panel+battery, but it’s cheaper plastic model. The birds love it though!
