Ask Lemmy@sh.itjust.works•Whats your advice to the younger folks of Lemmy?English
4·10 days agoIt’s absolutely fine to realize that something - that you previously thought you wanted to achieve - is not for you, and decide to give up on it; but you should try to make sure that you have had at least one experience in life where achieving something (or learning it, etc) turned out to be much more difficult than you thought, but you kept persevering until you overcame the challenge.
Maybe this is not actually great advice, but (speaking for myself) it has greatly increased my confidence in my abilities and potential, as well as my general self-belief.

2·11 days agoGood post, and great point: identify too many of your own unique attributes, and they can figure you out.
If they’re automating a lot of this work, it becomes as easy as shooting salmond in a barrel.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Which game have you been most patient for?
6·20 days agoI did, yep. I mean, my PC is fairly old so I don’t think I’ll play the current “enhanced” version on Steam even when I do eventually get round to trying it.

Oh shit, this is great. I remember seeing FFVII on the Dream List thing GOG has, and thinking “that’ll probably never happen”.
This game was a huge part of my childhood, it’s great to see it being taken care of.
That’s definitely the face of mild concern.

Ask Lemmy@sh.itjust.works•What Was the Golden Era of Video Games?English
2·22 days agoI have to agree with this. Steam has facilitated an explosion of amazing indie games. Even if you have a potato PC, you can still pick up Balatro, Loop Hero, Cave Story, Slay the Spire, and more.
The era I’m personally most nostalgic for would be the late 90’s. But as you now have the ability to emulate any of those games, I don’t see how the generation they originated in could be better than this one.
Correction: Sentence flow. I’m tired

Could also say “no hair, don’t care” 👴
