Surely the first one should be the other way around, as people without checked luggage can exit the airport right away without waiting at the baggage carousel?

For sure, the first one is absolutely unhinged and is the complete opposite of the second.

It’s like saying the people who are going to have to wait for their fancy coffee, that takes 20 mins to prepare, should all get to go first and black coffee drinkers should let everyone else skip the queue.

Checked luggage as opposed to carry on. If you don’t need to rummage around the overhead to find your bag, you get to leave first.

I fly a lot and rarely do I see someone with absolutely nothing on the plane. Having a checked bag by no means excludes you from also having a carry-on

Yup, same. I almost never see someone without a backpack or something. I often see people without a carry on suitcase, usually because they were forced to gate check it though.

I flew a fair bit (4-6 times a month) for my last job and while I would say sure everyone has a bag, it was very common for people to only have a personal item (backpack/purse) and not bring a carryon (roller bag that need to go in the overhead compartment).

The real solution here is to let everyone who doesn’t need access to the overhead compartment disembark first, irrespective of whether or not they checked a bag.

But they are likely to be in a window seat with their path blocked by two on-carriers so the whole thing would descend into chaos.

She didn’t say “People with no carry on” she said “People with checked luggage.” That is not the same thing at all.
