It’s a total farce. That park is approx. 200m wide and 1km long. Which is really, really not that big. The discussion around that thing has been going on for years and us Non-Berliner were bombarded with hundreds (yes!) of articles about this fucking park. Even the Guardian is now writing one. Not sure why the police is unable to secure this park - even a few officials patrolling the area should be enough to stop crimes happening from there, because the area is really, really small.
Sounds like the police might need to engage in foot/bicycle patrols and that may be something they’re not interested in doing. 1km should be managed with 4-6 officers, at least until the problems are cleared up and then it could be lower.
