Something about it really seems full of the type of imperfections that you get from 3D scans, which are imperfections that you would not expect to see when asking an LLM to generate a depiction of a character. I do think those 3D scans were heavily manipulated, possibly even by passing the images through a slop filter of some sort. But I do think this image did start out as the five actors sitting and having their heads scanned using traditional 3D scanning. Any slop was just added on top of that.
I don’t think this image was created by someone asking an LLM a bunch of variations of “create an image of the gang as beer handles”. I think it started with traditional 3D scanning techniques and may or may not have had additional AI-assisted manipulation on top of that.
