Abandoning a socialist platform because you deem the voting public too reactionary to support it is textbook tailism. Reinforcing reactionary ideas and contributing even in your own platform to the stigma against socialism is not going to make things better.

Because nobody over there knows what socialism is and the word being butchered by social democrats does not help either. I think the DSA really won’t get a foot in the door with those candidates that shed the socialist label the second they don’t need their support anymore. But time will show.
Kind of off topic, but this comes up a lot and I don’t see how it isnt a strength for socialists? Why can’t you just self-identify as a liberal or libertarian or better yet some bullshit Americanism like “maverick” and just enact socialist policies? If everyone gets the socialist stigma anyway, then the playing field is levelled for actual socialists.
The vote percentage from the Senate elections in FL was 41.3% in 2022 and then 42.8% in 2024 with a slightly more progressive candidate, against incumbents both times. The trend and lack of incumbent suggests something closer to 45%, depending on how Florida voters turn out and what proportion of the working class in the state decides Nixon’s platform is what they want.
