There are a few weird guys in there that I wasn’t already aware of. I knew that Louis Rossmann was kind of an asshole, but being openly active on kiwifarms is actually fucked up.

    Support for questionable persons might be a good reason to shame him - I’d like to see a bigger picture in all those cases. Is he focusing on assholes, or does he support 1000 projects including left extremists, right extremists or whatever to support “cool projects”? While anyone supporting the [far] right should be shamed, the perspective is important - to me at least.

    Shaming him for supporting “censorship resistant infrastructure” because “weirdos like those” is… horrible. A few days ago A/I gave up. We need censorship resistant infra! We need Tor and alike. Yes, bad people will use it. There is no simple solution. Banning/shaming “censorship resistant infra” for being that is no solution.

    If you protest against his presence and you win (by him withdrawing) don’t use it against him. That’s kind of lame. He gave in, you won. Take the win and move on.

    Rossmann’s shitty YouTube comment (linked to from this list) seems to expose his insecurities about gender and obesity and how he externalizes those insecurities to judge others.

    there’s a few names i’d probably add; one is peter simon, known as probono, the appimage maintainer, a professional wayland hater (he’s maintaining a ginormous gist that lists the failures of wayland, most of which is not true, not true anymore or at least grossly exaggerated).

    i just don’t understand why it seems like every (mostly white) dude just wants to shit on other people for no good reason. i really don’t understand. takes more effort to be trash and the outcome sucks for literally everyone, them included, yet they still just love be hateful in some weird way.

    I think this list was naming them fascists originally. But now he relaxed the definition and included even more.

    What is the purpose of publishing such a wide reaching (shit)list of people? When it was naming them fascists he was exposing himself to defamation lawsuits I’m pretty sure.

    Drew certainly gives the ick with such passive agressive stuff. Maybe he should put himself on that list of his as well.

      Calling someone a fascist is hardly defamation in US law, especially since basically everyone on the list are working towards a society where it’s absolutely fine to call them fascists, because they’re fascists and want to make fascism great again.

        Drew immigrated to Netherlands if my memory serves me right. I do not know know their laws on the topic but defamation lawsuits are a real thing. I suspect this is the reason for rewording.

    Somehow I thought DeVault would’ve had the self reflexive humour to add himself to the list as well. Between his impulsive outbursts and lolicon allegations (from people he had impulsive outbursts at), and with tongue firmly in cheek, surely he could qualify.

    Oh damn, that’s a good list of open source weirdos, most of them unsurprisingly white dudes…It really sucks that there’s so many creeps in open source. I was surprised by The Primogen associations, Louis Rossmann is a guy I kinda suspected of being not good. Welp, two more people to cut out of my YouTube watching.

        Yeah, I didn’t watch him constantly (only caught some videos here and there). Its good info to file away, I basically have a lot of Linux youtubers that glaze Omarchy, the Arch but more fascist and AI slopped on muted forever. As anyone who supports what DHH is doing or making is on my suspicious person list.
