This reminds me of a sign I saw a long time ago in Singapore on a seafood restaurant: If it swims, we have it.

Reminds me of a conversation with my companies ai HR chat bot they force you to engage with, was recently trying to figure out a discrepancy between their vacation & parental leave policy and kept getting something similar to:

“If you cant take the time per the vacation policy, then you cant take the time” “OK but that’s what im asking about, HRs interpretation of the vacation policy and how it works with the parental leave policy” “If you can take the time per the parental leave policy, then you can take the time” Back and forth 4 times over… FFS

Chat bots are a terrible interface for this shit in my opinion.

The principle issue is that all these companies want to dump you into the LLM but they can’t trust the LLM so it effectively has no power to do useful things.

Like when you’re calling a company and they tell you ‘did you know you could do all this stuff on our website instead of calling…’ when I would not be calling if I could do it on the site…

It’s great if you own the company and don’t want to deal with pesky questions and grievances. Fucking peasants pestering you endlessly. So tedious. So much easier and cost effective to throw up a bot. Bonus points if you can capture and monopolize an entire industry so the people peasants are left choiceless and dependant.

Pizza Hut once sued Papa John’s for their slogan “Better ingredients, better pizza, Papa John’s” as libelous. That they were asserting without evidence that Pizza Hut’s ingredients were inferior.

Papa John’s rebuttal was that as an advertising slogan, it was boastful and not factual in nature. That through their research, they only found one advertising slogan that was entirely fact-based, and that was Sony’s slogan 'It’s a Sony."

I know of at least one more, midwest fast food chain Rax had a slogan “You can eat here.” which seems rather verifiable.
