However, after that teacher left she allegedly proceeded to organise students by race and gender, insult them using racial slurs and derogatory statements, and use explicit language — as well as playing loud rap music and bragging about being OK with going to jail.

A 16-year-old boy in the class told authorities that she also called one student ‘fat boy’ and told two white pupils that ‘they were the type to start school shootings’, Independent reports.

I know a lot of people are going to sound off about how they had it worse when they were a kid, but mental and verbal abuse is still abuse. It was never okay, not back then, and not now. This lady doesn’t even have the excuse of being old and worn out like many of the professionals in that field. She’s 23, doesn’t actually work in that field, just decided to show up and being abusive.

If bipolar disorder is involved, it’s still a combination of various factors.

Bipolar disorder alone doesn’t cause something like this, I’d know because I have it and I can’t imagine ever doing something like this, even in my wildest manic episodes, even though I have a pretty serious case of it.

The other factors could be anything. Some examples: trauma, co-morbid mental conditions or just being a shitty person in general. Those are just some examples, like I said, it could be anything and it’s likely the other stuff is things we probably couldn’t even think of.

Jones is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on October 20 and, according to the Independent, could face a maximum 21 years in prison if she is convicted.

If only she was a child molester, she’d be out already.

This sentence should not be possible under these circumstances, unreal

We had a first grade teacher who grabbed a kid by the back of the hair and repeatedly slammed his head off the desk. Happened a few times. Tied another kid to his chair and didn’t let him go to lunch. She’d slam her apple pointer inches from your face, at least until she broke it one day.

But it was first grade. We knew it wasn’t right, but just not how wrong it was.

Why a POS like that ever wanted to teach kids is beyond me.

I ate in a certain teacher’s room during lunch in middle school. I was well liked by teachers because I enjoyed school and behaved well. My best friend was a trouble maker because of unmedicated ADHD.

One day he comes to the classroom during lunch to see me, and the teacher goes “Oh hell no” and drags him out of the room. Confused, I go out into the hallway and see him dragging my friend down the hallway by the ear, screaming “You’re useless, and you’ll never amount to anything! Everyone knows you are garbage! Just give up!”

It felt weird because they were so nice to me, and the unmitigated aggression seemed to come out of nowhere. I didn’t understand for years that some people are just broken inside. I did stop eating there.

Anyway my friend is a successful chemical engineer now.

Jones, a former student at the school, is said to have scouted the premises for a week before carrying out the stunt, getting past security by blending in with other students.

She then accused of returning on a day when eight teachers were absent and ‘got lucky’ as only seven substitutes had signed in, before going to a classroom set up by another teacher, who stayed with her for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile Fox6 News Milwaukee reported that Jones was said to have asked if any of the students had a vape or marijuana as the class ‘was so f****** lame and annoying’.

She was reportedly escorted from the school after students raised the alarm and principal Doreen Badillo became aware of what was going on.

So much security theater just to allow someone like this to waltz into a classroom to openly berate children.

My partner has been in some child free communities and i saw a lot of people hating on kids. Most of the stories she’d relay were about kids being annoying with minimal mention of their parents.

My old boss was super into those groups and would post just vile, hateful stuff about kids.

I do think that child free groups are mostly about hating kids, in practice.

It actually is nearly always that way until parents come in to those spaces and start deliberately misinterpreting things and claiming the straw men they’ve built are saying hateful things about kids. Most parents see hate in any refusal to glaze them for their choice to become parents. And they nearly all see hate in not being impressed by or wanting to coo over their little vacation souvenirs.

So much security theater just to allow someone like this to waltz into a classroom to openly berate children.

I don’t see the “so much” security theater you’re referring to, and it seems like she got very lucky. She appeared young enough to blend in with the other students but also appeared old enough to be a substitute teacher and had attended the high school not that long ago (and conveniently lived right across the street).

During her scouting the week prior, she “heard other staff in the main office talking about the substitute teacher agency and told the secretary she was a substitute”, so she had that established ahead of time. On the day she went into the classroom, eight of the approximately 70 teachers were absent, and one of those positions happened to be unfilled by a sub (something she couldn’t possibly have foreseen).

Incidentally, unrelated to your comment, here’s the local news source instead of the trash tabloid Metro.

That’s the security theater I’m talking about. The security theater that should have caught this woman. If she had a gun, there would be a lot of dead students right now.

If she had a gun, there would be a lot of dead students right now.

Milwaukee public schools use metal detectors.

This video specifically shows what Rufus King (this high school) does. You’re assuming her having a gun wouldn’t have changed this, but it would’ve. Because part of that “so much security theater” is scanning people who enter the school.

Do you know what schools have implemented in the effort to cut down on school shootings?

          Yes, see the video above.

And per the school’s own admission, teachers recognized her as a former student and didn’t say anything at the time.

There’s also many ways around metal detectors, especially when the school shows that they don’t follow protocols anyway.

And per the school’s own admission, teachers recognized her as a former student and didn’t say anything at the time.

              If you’re drawing that from:

Since our first communication, our initial investigation determined that this individual involved was a former student recognized by staff. [emphasis mine] She was not a substitute teacher. We did involve our Milwaukee Police Department school resource officers (SROs) the day that this occurred. The district’s Title IX coordinator was also notified. In addition to any police actions resulting from this situation, the district is continuing with its own investigation.

It seems extremely clear that what the letter is saying isn’t that the staff saw her impersonating a substitute and looked the other way; it’s that once the students reported her, staff who worked there were able to identify her as a former student.

If this isn’t what you were talking about and I’m missing something, I apologize.

one of the few subs I actually remember was a science-substitute (his specialty was biology), and he’d bring his snakes to class and let them wander about the class room and chill with the kids.

He actually cared about the kids he was teaching.

then there was the white South African sub that spent the entire class removed about “discrimination” because she was denied scholarships for (black) South Africans affected by apartheid. she was just removed. (and credit to our history teachers, they found out about it and gave us an impromptu weeklong lesson on Apartheid.)

One time in fourth grade, we had a new substitute that had a system for how mad she was. Lik, y’know. She came in as a teddy bear, she said. The more mad she got, she went up in bears. So over the course of the day, she gradually went up her scale because we were rowdy, I guess, however this went down, this was a million years ago, but she became a koala then brown then black. This spurred a discussion about how black bears are usually smaller and more docile, leading to a debate, which was a mistake, questioning this woman’s bear knowledge. Thus, she reached her grizzly state and slammed a textbook on the overhead projector, breaking it. We never had that substitute teacher again, but in fifth grade we got this regular sub that had alligators.
