Told through the perspective of filmmaker Daniel Roher as he prepares to become a father, the film investigates the existential threats and potential promises of artificial intelligence. Roher conducts interviews with leading experts in the field to understand the world his child will inherit, balancing anxiety with “apocaloptimism”.[4]

I saw this in theatres
This is a pretty good film to share with any friends or family who don’t know a lot about AI or have followed its trajectory over the years. It explains the basics of how the technology works, gives pitches from the classic three sides of the AI debate (doomers, accelerationists and “the scouts”) and explores some of the incentives at play. Personally, I didn’t get a lot out of it as I was already very familiar with all of the people involved and their respective talking points, but it was nice to see the topic approached by a layman for other laymen. I think now is a great time to spread it around because AI safety has finally started becoming a mainstream talking point.
