The Biden administration cannot enforce new protections for LGBTQ+ students in Ohio, Virginia and four other states, a federal judge ruled Monday, becoming the latest court to rebuff efforts to expand the scope of a decades-old law that prohibits sex-based discrimination.

US District Judge Danny Reeves said in a 93-page ruling that the new protections – which are set to take effect August 1 – cannot be enforced in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia and West Virginia while a lawsuit brought by those states’ attorneys general plays out.

The new rules require schools to protect students from all sex discrimination, including sexual violence and sex-based harassment, expanding that definition to include discrimination based on pregnancy or pregnancy-related conditions like childbirth, termination of pregnancy or recovery from pregnancy. Compliance with the new rules is required to receive federal education aid.

“The Department’s interpretation conflicts with the plain language of Title IX and therefore exceeds its authority to promulgate regulations under that statute,” the judge wrote, adding that he also believed the changes would, in effect, require some educators “to use students’ preferred pronouns regardless of whether doing so conflicts with the educator’s religious or moral beliefs.”

Calling a student what they want to be called. Oh, the humanity!

Jesus Fucking Allah Buddah Mohammad Baphomet Christ on rubber crutches. How godamned hard is it to leave your hate-filled religion at the door and just be a decent human being for 8 hours?

Background: We have one of those fucking stupid “religious freedumb” laws on the books. “It won’t be used to discriminate”, they lied. Bullshit. This is exactly the kind of crap they want to use that law for. Goddamn, I hate this state. Can’t even do the bare minimum of not being a piece of shit.

Jesus would NEVER EVER stand for calling students what they want to be called!

          Don’t judge others.

Love your neighbour, and this means anyone in need, especially ones from ethnicities your nation shuns.

Look after the poor, the widows and the foreigners.

          Pay your taxes.

But seriously, number one and number two are love God and love your neighbour, according to Jesus, and he got really really cross about the religious leaders making up all kinds of rules for everyone else to follow, and for making the temple all about the money.

He also said that you can’t love God and money.

It’s just not a very Republican kind of line of morality, you can see why they’re rejecting it.

      just be a decent human

A large group of people find human decency terrible, and don’t think it should extend to anyone but themselves.

This is why I do not consider myself to be human. Humans, overall, do not display behaviour that meets my moral standards.

Indiana claims that schools have to use a student’s preferred name (whether it be a nickname or they are trans) with parental consent.

As my daughter can tell you, her trans friend in an Indiana public school is deadnamed by the administration despite his parents giving that consent. My daughter said she was confused every time it happened to him because she didn’t think of her friend by that name, or as a she.

The nickname thing really puts this into perspective. Imagine saying ‘I’m Jim, my parents call me Jim, everyone knows me as Jim and it’s what I prefer to be called’ and then some absolute psycho asks what’s on your birth certificate and exclusively calls you James. The level of disrespect and lack of basic human kindness in these people is astonishing.

I guarantee you that if Jim’s parents told the school to call him Jim, they would. Unless Jim was originally Rebecca.

Have the GOP achieved anything, anywhere over the last 5 years that wasn’t an attempt to take away people’s voting rights, to take away their reproductive rights, or to take away their human rights? Has any Republican ANYWHERE done anything to make the lives of their constituents better? Or are they just virtue signalling obstructionist assholes to the very last one?

They cut taxes once. That’s like the one traditional-conservative achievement of the Trump Administration.

Non wealthy people had their taxes cut for a time, but raised permanently. The trump tax cuts were a wealth transfer from the working class to the owner class.

It’s easy to cut taxes on the poor. You raise the non-taxed income limit then the upper limits of each of the tax brackets. That would give virtually all of the benefit of the tax cuts to the 99.9%. Across the board tax cuts and corporate tax cuts are designed to transfer wealth to the wealthy.

The latter. Republicans can’t govern for shit. They’re the equivalent of the class bully back in highschool who would beat up anyone that got above a C grade.

Red states are shit holes. Women and LGBTQ+ can’t get medical care if they need it. Women and LGBTQ+ can be fired for simply being a women or LGBTQ+. Imagine claiming to be the most free states but thinking only white male Christians are deserving of those freedoms.
