Hamas has acknowledged the death of its leader Yahya Sinwar but vowed to keep fighting, in the face of international calls for an immediate ceasefire.
“We are continuing Hamas’s path,” Khalil al-Hayya, Sinwar’s deputy said from exile in Qatar, adding that the slain leader’s conditions for a ceasefire would not be compromised.
Those conditions included a cessation of Israeli military operations in Gaza, the complete withdrawal of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from the occupied coastal strip, and the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.
Hayya insisted that Hamas would emerge stronger than ever despite the death of its leader, but most experts predict that Sinwar’s killing was a significant blow to the movement, at least in the short term.
I don’t codone violence. But probably a dumb question but why didn’t IDF/Israel just use mossad to go after him and then wait till another leader popped up and go after them and so on and so on. Instead of bombing the living shit also shooting in Gaza?
Because the goal is to remove Palestinians from their land by any means necessary. In practice, that means genocide.
This was never about hamas
Israel has supported Hamas at least sinc the mid 2010 years. The Israeli government wanted and needed Hamas to have a pretext not to be pressured into finding a peaceful solution, so they could slowly annex Palestine.
Adding to what the other guy said, Mossad is good at what they do but they’re not all powerful, and Hamas has been operating under their thumb for 30 years. It’s not that simple or they’d be doing it in addition to the genocide (see: Lebanon).
Israel, the US, and probably others were looking for him but no one could find him. It was a chance encounter with trainee soldiers.
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted when you’re right. They found him by accident when engaging unknown Hamas fighters. They only found out it was him after the fact. This was with Israel constanly saying he was hiding and dressing as a woman to evade capture for the past year when he was actually fighting on the front lines. Biden and Netanyahu tried to play it off as a planned and successful military op.

They are actively helping israel justify their genocide.
If they stop now, Israel will either continue their genocide unimpeded or, even if they stop, occupy all of Gaza. That would be a disaster. Well, another disaster anyway.
That aside, you shouldn’t assume the genocide is in Israel’s best interests. They’re doing it because they’re dumb, but this is hurting them at least as much as it’s hurting Palestine in the long term.

That is already what is happening under the guise of destroying Hamas.

I really can’t see how, when shithole countries support israel no matter how many children, aid workers or even their own citizens are killed.
It’s exactly because it becomes harder for those shithole countries to support Israel. Support for Palestine among the Western public has been increasing rapidly ever since October 7th. Israeli support had become a controversial topic in thr West. Israeli European relations are tenser than ever and won’t be getter better anytime soon, and even in America Gaza is one of the Harris campaign’s biggest hurdles. Support for Israel is becoming or has become unelectable to a large and increasing segment of the population.
So anyway to sum up, this is big and Israel will feel the impact of their worsening relations with the West for generations to come even if they don’t commit any more atrocities.
