Summary

Days before the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion, Ukrainians find unity threatened not just by Russia but also shifting U.S. support.

Donald Trump’s false labeling of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a “dictator” has provoked fierce backlash, even from Zelenskyy’s critics, who now rally around him.

With ongoing Russian attacks and Ukrainian forces stretched thin, Trump’s suggestion of a swift end to hostilities raises fears of concessions favoring Russia.

Officials argue that elections amid war would undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty. Many vow to continue resisting, regardless of major foreign policy changes.

There is a similar thing happening with Trudeau in Canada (with lower stakes perhaps). His popularity in 2024 was abysmal, but Trump being elected and coming after him as revived his legacy.

Ukrainian friends, as an American I’m sorry this has happened, sorry both for my country and for yours. It may be a small consolation as our new regime withdraws aid, but remember that most Americans are still on your side as we have been throughout the war.

    Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦 !

Does a country need extra unity at war time. And if they did do they get from external sources???

American citizens are with you even if our traitorous politicians aren’t

I’m worried that this will soon lead to a US invasion into Ukraine, using Russian talking points. The military is already beheaded to avoid any opposition

How many countries can this guy invade at a time? Greenland, Canada, Panama, South Africa, Ukraine… the list is so long I’m sure I’m missing somebody.

Invasion? Only uninvited like the ruskies are doing an Invasion.

Besides, peace keepers on Ukrainian non-Russian borders like Belarus would free up Ukrainian units.

If Trump’s incompetence in executing Vlad’s grand vision saves Ukraine, and his chaotic bumbling at home collapses our government in such spectacular fashion that we look more like modern Europe in a decade, I will obviously be happy about it but I will also be so annoyed.

He would not be the Trump we deserve, he would be the Forrest Magoo that we need.

I don’t know any country that runs an election in wartime, on top of the thought that Russia could easily manipulate those elections from outside to further destabilize the country.

Not really in the course of history. A lot of countries had no elections that could have been postponed.

      Also, yes.

Zelensky is no dictator. He just happened to be the president at the time that putin invaded and now cannot simply quit and let it all fall apart. Who in their right mind would choose to be a good leader for Ukraine now when the US is turning nazi?

There are two very good reasons not to have an election there right now

1: they just don’t have the time for it, they are fighting for their lives and country.

      1. A sudden strategy shift, even if it’s a good one, has the potential to put their army in disarray.

More important, it’s just more projection. He’s a dictator. Not me

If I’m understanding it correctly he can’t just stop and he can’t run an election. He was the last elected official is well liked by his people and most of the world, he could appoint someone but that seems more dictatorial or monarchist than holding an office I think most everyone would rather not hold at the moment.

Zelensky is the best person to be in the position he has, all things considered. Seems like a stand-up guy, and not a career politician that you’re gonna worry has other motives in mind.

A true man of the people.

    “Slava Ukraini!”

Fuck Trump and MAGA. I am beyond disappointed in my country.
