Summary

CBS has moved to dismiss Donald Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, calling it an attack on the First Amendment.

Trump alleges CBS edited the interview to harm him politically, citing “voter interference.” CBS attorneys argue the lawsuit seeks to punish “constitutionally protected editorial judgments” and is “without basis in law or fact.”

If not dismissed, CBS wants it moved to New York, where its headquarters is located.

The move comes as a surprise because CBS had considered settling to avoid delaying its $8 billion merger with Skydance Media, which requires regulatory approval.

CBS helped elect this clown. I distinctly recall in 2015 CBS cutting away from live Hillary Clinton rallies in the middle of her speech to instead go live to Trump’s empty podium before he even came out on stage.

I have no sympathy for what this administration does to the oligarchs legacy media corps now. And fuck Washington Post especially

Yeah, but he’s a MAN. A bigly important BUSINESS man, too, no less. So obviously it’s much more important to get all ready to hear what he is going to say, as opposed to broadcasting some mere woman - who everyone is saying is incredibly shrill and omg, that laugh [1], amirite? - and any of her so-called ideas.

/s, just in case anyone thinks that real…

[1] If anyone needs evidence of just how skewed coverage is of Hillary (and Kamala) vs. little d, examining how they talk about their laugh is instructive. I mean, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen donnie ever have what looks like a genuine human emotion when it comes to humor. He does that weird grimace when he or someone else is punching down on someone. But have you ever seen the guy laugh at a joke or something that is not mean-spirited? The guy seems like he’s just very unhappy, and I find that far more weird than anything about Hillary or Kamala’s laugh. I think a lot of weak men hear a woman laughing and assume it’s AT THEM, so that’s why there was so much time spent on talking about it…

CBS realized if they gave in, Trump had no plans of stopping attacks whatsoever. So if you’re gonna get attacked anyways, you might as well fight back .

Corporations and their owners thought that Trump would boost the stock market through tax cuts. Instead the market is tanking due to his moronic tariffs and Russia-appeasement strategy. Now that it’s clear he won’t be making them money they have rediscovered their “morals”.

Yeah, this is the only logical move they have. Good to see someone still has ethical brains in business these days.

No no, don’t worry. They’re still going to work for him and do his bidding, they’re just not going to be bullied into paying him $20billion over a factually imaginary grievance. They’ll get the case thrown and then issue a public apology for having to defend themselves and then immediately hardline into defending the administration. Tale as old as time.

This is of course assuming the admin doesn’t simply revoke their broadcast license before they get the chance to bend back over.

Interesting signs when corporations are starting to push back. Glad to see a news organization being at the front of the charge.

sadly, if we told them the “dems definitely don’t want you to drink methanol, because it’s bad for you”, there’d be some who’d do it out of spite. this is literally what’s happening with vaccines, but one’s mental blindness leading to physical blindness has some poetry to it.

Just imagine if something deadlier than the covid virus infiltrated this country. And somebody developed a vaccine for it and these idiots wouldn’t take it.

Oh wait, has anybody heard about what’s happening in the Congo lately? 😒

the problem is exactly what we see with measles.

          1. children who have no choice are the ones who suffer the consequences
          2. because most vaccines cannot be 100% effective (e.g., I got 3 extra MMR shots and I still don’t have detectable measles antibody levels despite being fully immunocompetent), they do rely on herd immunity protecting those who don’t mount full responses to the shots.

The thing about public health is that it’s public interest over personal choices. In a functioning free society those personal choices would still align with public interest based on the understanding of societal good. So the antagonism is totally artificial.

This is the thing that distinguishes the intellect of orbán and trump. Orbán developed what he officially named “the system of national collaboration” with an unofficial motto of “those with us will thrive [and those who are against us will struggle]”. So initially they made sure that it was a lucrative thing to align with the system making it very inconvenient for systematic resistance to emerge. Trump seems to be failing this idea already in the acute phase: maintaining pressure even when companies realign with him makes it much more convenient to push back straight up…

Weird, if this post were critical of the liberal media it would have tens of comments. Suddenly they do something good and we’re all quiet and shit.
