AVIF is pretty universally supported at this point.
JPEG XL just lacks browser support because Google, prefers to push their own .webp and Mozilla is not interested in supporting any non AI focused standards these days.

And yet, PNG has more support. If they start supporting the new spec, seems like an improvement to me.

Microsoft does have official support, although only for its apps and is not yet available in Microsoft Edge.
Apple does have official support and is available in Safari since version 17.
