I used a “sad day” earlier this year when a buddy of mine died and I just couldn’t that day.

Oh yeah he’s possibly my best boss yet. Once he drove me to the hospital for a work-related injury because the ambulance was taking too long. That’s actually a huge personal legal risk he accepted to help me.

For those of us with PTO, definitely, but definitely better to be like “hey I’m going to take tomorrow off” than calling out the morning of. This obviously depends on where you work and whether you like your job and/or like your boss

There was once a standard where people paid the doctor a small sum to stay healthy. Either way, healthcare is a human right and it doesn’t matter.
I haven’t had a job so shitty that I had to explain absence in ages. Even at Lowe’s all I had to do was call a hotline and punch buttons, no explanation required. My wife has a pretty good job, but even with all their bullshit rules, it’s still an automated thing.
I’m pretty sure the only jobs requiring you to justify yourself are restaurants. I wish restaurant workers had basic rights that were enforced. Fucking places make their employees handle staffing for them in order to be allowed to be sick. It’s insane.
