That is a valid review. We’re all inundated with professional review culture where they recommend products to us, but we’ve all forgotten that art is very subjective and very personal. If a work of art just hits you at the right place and right time in your life, it’ll move you in ways that you didn’t know you could be moved. And that is beautiful. Telling your friends about that experience is only natural.
Nobody has ever heard of Jupiter Hell. It’s a rogue lite turn based game based on boomer shooters like Doom and Quake. My brother had a stroke a few years ago and it left him unable to do fast twitch games which he loved. We found Jupiter Hell during that period. And it hit exactly right at exactly right time. I wouldn’t recommend it to most people, and I barely played it myself, but that game is a 10/10 in my book.
Actually I love Jupiter Hell, so there’s at least three of us. I’m glad you guys got some joy out of it
I wouldn’t have thought either Turn-Based Doom or Classic Roguelike, But Oops All Guns would work, but it’s unironically great. It really does feel thematically like Doom, it has a surprising amount of depth and build variety, and it entertained me for far longer than similar games have.
I love that there’s classic 90’s Boomer Shooter protagonist callouts, and that you’re able to customize them to be less cheesy or profane or even disable them entirely. They’re just the right amount of cringe, and they know it’s not for everyone
My first clear I had a chainsaw, super shotgun, and BFG. If that’s not Doom, I don’t know what is
