Roiland, whose exit from the Adult Swim series was announced in January in light of domestic abuse charges, had voiced the title characters since its 2013 launch.

Its too bad that its so hard to find a man aged 18-35 who is willing to show us his Rick and Morty impression at the drop of a hat.

They should have had Rick sneak into Mortys room and scream his name to get up. Can pull audio from other episodes from past. Morty wakes up screaming and punches Rick in the throat. Rick starts choking and Mortify asks if he is alright, using old audio again, than Rick punches him in the throat as retaliation. Then they both continue to choke for a few minutes. Then in new voices the agree to never talk about this again. Que new intro.

I know they’re doing this because it’s a cash cow for them, but didn’t the guy play a huge part in the show? I’d imagine this is probably going to be the last season unless by a miracle they can do without his writing and I think adlib?

I’m saying this probably would’ve been a reason to cancel the show altogether.

By all accounts the past couple seasons he just shows up drunk to record his lines, be obnoxious in the office for a couple hours and then go home.

The actual writing and content hasn’t really involved him. So assuming they can find a voice that isn’t too jarring, odds are the average person won’t know or care and the show will be just fine.

Also his adlibs were almost never used and just sucked up recording booth time.

The show is legitimately better without him.

Billy West is the fucking man. Watching the latest episode of futurama and he nails all his characters still, even being away from them for so long. Many of the other main cast use, essentially, their regular voices.

I definitely noticed he sounds older and looked up ha age. 71! He definitely doesn’t sound that old but it was still noticable. Of course it’s not his fault. Definitely the GOAT voice actor.

That’s incredible. He sounded ever so slightly different in the trailer, but not that old at all. He still sounded like Fry, which mattered.

As opposed to the current Simpsons cast where I just feel sad listening to the current voices.

So you consider the rest of the cast to be Katey Sagal?

I agree that Billy West is certainly the man, and deserves tons of praise, but your last sentence is a reductive and incorrect insult. Maurice LaMarche is right behind Billy West in amazingness (think Kif vs Morbo to understand his range). Frank Welker is a fucking voice acting legend. John DiMaggio and Tress MacNeille are both amazing voice actors. David Herman is a great utility voice actor. Phil LaMarr and Lauren Tom are great and sound nothing like their characters, unless you think all people in their respective racial groups sound alike.

            Blasphemy.

I would say the main voice cast consists of Billy, Katey, and John. It’s been so long since I’ve heard John speak with his regular voice, I had to go find some YouTube videos to see that yes - I was absolutely incorrect in that regard.

Maurice and Phill are some of the all time greats and I would put them up close to Billy and Dan Castellaneta. Tress is the female equivalent of Billy, imo.

No shade was intended to the rest of the supporting cast. I feel it’s a little messed up to low key call someone a racist based on their feelings for the cast performances on a cartoon, but you do you.

My love of Rick and Morty’s adventures has very little to dow Justin Roland. Also seems a been rash to give up on a show that’s already contracted out for several more seasons.

“We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast”, not a very informative article. Also notes that recasts are “soundalikes” and that show is as good as it’s ever been. No date for the next season yet.

had voiced the title characters since its 2013 launch.

Makes it sound more than it was. There were 63 episodes over those 10 years. It wasn’t like the show had 20 episode seasons every year.

I’d lost track of how long R&M had been running until a few days ago. I was watching an old episode of Community and there was Abed and his gf Brie Larson sitting on the couch and watching Rick & Morty.

I think they should pivot to a whole season of Interdimensional Cable, with a season-length R&M plotline weaved in with no actual exposure to the usual characters.

His case was closed due to lack of evidence or something, but there’s still a ton of actual real evidence that got released online of him perving on underage girls and talking about how much he wants to bang 15 year olds, so it’s doubtful anyone’s going to be doing business with him again any time soon

I think someone unearthed a clip of him on a podcast talking about sex with kids which at the time was probably seen as edgy humour but… Yeah. Something to do with wishing he could go back to the past because then it ok to sleep with teens? Can’t remember. Don’t care enough to Google it. But it’s beyond doubt the man should probably be on a watch list

Charges dropped by district attorney due to the case not having enough compelling evidence to secure a conviction. Not exactly cleared, the prosecutor just didn’t think they could secure a conviction.

Just because he was not proven guilty doesn’t mean everyone is legally required to just ignore all the very real evidence that was released of him being an actual internet predator/pedophile. Generally companies tend to shy away from being associated with that sort of thing.

It’s entirely possible. However I am 100% certain the network would probably just cancel the show entirely before they let Justin Roiland back on the payroll.

He hasn’t contributed to the writing since like season 2 or 3. I think it will probably be fine with a different voice actor

ITT: People who have no problem condemning a man via hearsay, and giving no respect to our justice system.

      Hang the witches! Burn them!

1: It wasn’t only the allegations of domestic violence. It was also the extremely creepy DMs and history of openly sexualizing minors that got him in trouble.

2: Prosecutors refusing to bring people who commit DV to trial is relatively common. It’s sometimes difficult for there to be much evidence, it becomes a matter of he-said-she-said, and victims often don’t want to press charges for a number of reasons including their own safety or affection for their abusers.

3: There is no hearsay here. There are allegations. Hearsay is an out-of-court statement offered in court to prove the truth of whatever it asserts. It’s someone saying in court, “I heard her say that he hit her.” It is generally not admissible as evidence, though there are many exceptions to the hearsay rule.

4: This isn’t about our justice system, or a lack of respect for it. This is about companies who refuse to continue working with an individual due to his actions. What the justice system decides to do is not directly related to how companies operate. By all accounts they were mostly pretty sick of his shit anyway.

Judging by the creepy-as-fuck DMs and his general demeanor, I’m not really willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on these allegations. Don’t be a creepy fuck, Justin.

”I haven’t seen the evidence but I still have an opinion”

I saw plenty in those DMs, I saw plenty of former co-workers complaints when this all went down, I heard plenty from the mouth of Justin himself, to know that for a company he became a liability.

As far as him losing his voice work goes, my opinion is irrelevant. The opinion of the prosecutors about whether they could convince a jury beyond a reasonable doubt is irrelevant. The opinions of the companies that decided to no longer do business with him are the only opinions that matter.

Not really a lot of respect to a lot of people who are trying to do the justice in the system but failing at it miserably. US justice system isn’t as infallible and trustworthy as you for some reason think it is.
