I have been told multiple times on Lemmy now that it isn’t a genocide because no one has been murdered yet.

Similarly, I was told a couple of days ago that America isn’t a fascist dictatorship because they aren’t shooting protesters yet.

People will keep their head in the sand until they’re loaded into a boxcar themselves. Possibly even then.

      US prisons are lethal.

Plus the body count is in the hundreds of thousands if you include his previous 4 years.

anyone denying the long ongoing latin american genocide has their head either in the sand or up their ass. every dipshit who said things couldn’t get worse than weimar joe or kamala doesn’t understand just how bad things can get and elected for things to get worse all for the sake of their conscience. it hadn’t shit to do with what would actually make things better or worse. they didn’t want to help gazans. they wanted to feel good about themselves.

so. now i implore you, reader. the election was the chance to do something the gentle way. now it’s time to do things the uncomfortable way. monitor the police and tell your marginalized peers what they’re up to. hide people. fight. grow food and share it. don’t be a fucking coward. get out here and help us help as many people survive as we can. voting was literally the least you could do. now it’s time to do a little more

Yeah I just typed this yesterday and it’s worth putting here too: in the 1930s in Germany there was a group that basically tasked itself with the protection of democracy and they waited for a signal from leadership that never came. Because leadership was waiting for the one moment. Don’t wait.
