My wife comes from the west. I am from the East. We live in Nova Scotia now but we spent most of our lives in the west. We made some money in the oil and gas industry though it was in environmental reclamation not extraction. Lots of her family people are in extraction.

People that tell her they love her are saying how we are all just in it for the transfer payments. It’s all for the gravy train to keep rolling. Canada wouldn’t become a state, and would have no representation if they were annexed. People are delusional if they think they would get full statehood and all the rights that entails.

Set aside all the things Albertans regularly enjoy and take for granted, and that there is absolutely no way back under the American Constitution, our taxes here would either skyrocket or massively erode our quality of life overnight.
