That’s exactly what I did when my computer started bugging me with reminders to upgrade to windows 11. Love linux mint and have not had any issues that took more than 15 minutes to resolve so far.

I did that just before the tariffs were announced. Kept the old PC (Win 10) but haven’t turned it on since except to copy some files. Games, .NET development, everything I need working just fine. Can’t see any reason to ever go back.

There’s indeed some decent people in this world. Don’t throw away your perfectly functional PC because the corporate overlords think it’s time due you send more of your hard earned money their way. Remember this with your smartphones as well. Once I degoogled my phone, I increased the lifespan of this 2017 Samsung hardware I’m writing this comment on. It released about 5 GB worth of software bloat, the battery runs longer, and there’s no breaks in performance. I’m tired of “programmed obsolescence”. If you don’t know what this term is, you should. It should be illegal for companies to do this!!! And the software “injection” to render hardware obsolete is the most obvious pathetic display of it. Thank goodness that there’s people like this still battling back.
