Let the joy be unbridled! My neighbour’s windchimes have FINALLY broken through their string and have fallen! And said neighbours are away for the next week so I’ll have at least a week of blessed silence. Happy happy happy!

Was it a cheap set or anything particularly wrong with them?

As a wind chime owner myself I want to make sure I’m not annoying my own neighbours

Not a particularly cheap set - thin brass bells with a particularly penetrating chime which is just slightly, ever so slightly, off key. Goes through 2 layers of brick wall, double glazing and some serious intervening vegetation with perfect ease and clarity. If you suffered from tinnitus, they would be an instrument of torture. Possibly justifying a violent home invasion. I have contemplated this solution but lack the guts (but not the equipment).

This triggers a past experience I had with neighbours and wind chimes. And it was hung on their side patio right next to my bedroom window. Let’s just say I took care of of the issue ✂️

While they are away you should take the opportunity to sneak in and fill the pipes with spray foam to permanently silence them.

Maybe a bit obvious. Might just remove the whole thing and give it to the nearest op shop tomorrow. “It blew away overnight, sir, nothing to do with me at all sir”.

Not if you have perfect pitch and very sensitive hearing. See comment below. Windchimes imo are one of the more selfish pleasures. If you like them, that’s fine - you do you. But please do not share them 24/7/365 with your neighbours who might not be so appreciative of unending aural invasion. At the very least, hang them up when you are going to listen to them, and take them down when you are not.

Nobody sensible minds them occasionally, earmuffs are a thing, its just the 24/7/365 bit that really gets my goat.

Bit disappointed I had a lazy day but also realising that I have years of sleep and oxygen deprivation to make up for. Trying not to beat myself up for not realising and getting treated earlier. I did buy food and get the washing done and got through a chunk of my book and a few eps of the Bear (shhh I have managed to stay spoiler free for S4) Tomorrow a beach walk if it’s not as windy, bit of work admin to get ready for the week and some cooking.

Had the definition of a green day today.

Biggest accomplishment was a 15 minute swim at the gym, followed by an hour of steam/sauna/hot tub

    Korean BBQ for dinner.

Japanese whiskey as a night cap.

Hope all your weekends are good and mentally rewarding.

Off to buy a shitload of aerogard from the chemist lol. CW seems reasonable price-wise.

Was reassuring to find this today. Seems like they do the multi DOOOM approach too, so I’m not going completely mad. Their language does appear a bit defeatist though heh. No mention of weed burners :( .

Checkout person will think I have a massive unhealthy phobia of insects.

Puppy dog eyes won out and we went for a walk. It was as cold and windy as expected, but fortunately we managed to avoid being rained on. Miss Meow now has me pinned down on the couch to make sure I don’t try to leave again.

Currently in the middle of a power outage. I didn’t manage to get the heaters on for long enough to warm up the place.

Hoping the sun can warm the place up a little.

Lucky I charged all my stuff for last week but not knowing this was going to happen has screwed me up.

Oh well washing for tomorrow instead.

Now to get make some food. Thank god I still have a gas stove.

I’m pretty proud of our local train youtubers here in Melbourne. I was able to find a bunch of original content on the train derailment at Clifton Hill. I found videos on the derailment, freight trains coming to take the train apart, and the derailed carriage being lifted off the track by a crane.

And we don’t even have the most comprehensive public transport network. I wonder what the train youtubers in other cities are like?

We went for a train ride down to Reservoir and saw one of the yellow SSR freight trains from the video.

It kind of feels like meeting a local celebrity

Sleep has been acquired and My Hello Fresh box is inside. Mr Woof thinks that means it’s walk time, but the weather is miserable out there. Cold, windy and likely rain coming. I am not feeling enthused.
