On some specific areas of policy, I find Reform’s platform thoroughly agreeable. Nationalise the water companies? Check. Nationalise British Steel? Check. Combine social care with the NHS for a unified system? Yes please.

It’s just the y’know, the racism that I object to.

Whenever you see far right wingers extol the virtues of socialist policies you can know that they’re only doing this for popularity and cover.

When they get in office they will miraculously never make progress on any of the socialist promises but all of the fascist ones happen to stay top of mind for them.

Reminds me of this whole “National Socialism” thing. What a strange coincidence, innit?

It’s the same reason that Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling what’s happening in Gaza a genocide. Spineless amoral grifters can see that the mainstream political parties are so far removed from their base in major issues like the Gaza genocide and deportations in the US and trans rights in TERF Island that they see legitimacy and clout and most importantly votes to be gained for flipping their previous stances. It’s scary shit.

I’ve been convinced since the referendum to leave the EU that he genuinely didn’t expect it to happen and was gutted that it did. That was basically his career plan, to rant about how we need to leave the EU forever and it just went up in smoke because of what a dumb country we are

People like that are in it for the attention, so anything that gives them more attention is good. I bet he never spends a second on thinking ahead, it’s all seat of the pants spontaneous blurting out whatever thought happens to pass through his addled brain. The disgusting part is how successful he is with that

He has basically dictated whatever fucking policy he wanted since 199X without even getting into power.

The UK did not join the Euro, one of Farages’ massive talking points and the logo of the fucking UKIP, much harsher immigration rules, actual fucking Brexit. All without being voted into fucking anything.

Oh for sure, and I am continuously frustrated by the fucking hard-on the media have for him and his bullshit. But I still think he preferred that position where he could continue perpetually to whine about the EU to the one where we left and he was suddenly adrift for a while. Then luckily Reform appeared and he could do that instead of being the only thing on GB News that anyone at all was bothering to watch. I doubt he particularly wants to be prime minister now, he’d prefer to be the boogeyman of British politics as head of Reform but Labour are doing their best to get him into the job in 29

The Tories are such a shambles anyway after the last 15 years that I highly doubt most people even pay attention to them. The Tories are contributing to it but only by making themselves increasingly irrelevant and unelectable as they stumble around cluelessly

Doesn’t woke mean intelligent awareness of the issues? Why would that be an insult? Fuck George Orwell for giving Trump’s goons all of these doublespeak and projection ideas. Now the whole world is affected and there is no common sense vaccine for it.

Woke means aware of systemic injustice, and yes it’s a good thing. It’s like calling someone a anti-racist or antifascist as an insult — it’s not an insult except to the person issuing it.

Great! It seems that absolutely everybody is woke now, so I assume we’ve reached consensus on not being assholes to each other. That’s wonderful news!
