Technically those aren’t flags that were desecrated. Those are new symbols derived from the flag.
Now, this gets grey because there’s a code that says anything can be used as a flag. However, my understanding is that just because anything with the flag print can be a flag, that doesn’t mean everything is a flag. So, cotton or nylon don’t make a difference. But flag briefs aren’t.
However, all of this is made up. In reality, you’re free to do whatever you want (in theory). And if you consider flag briefs an offensive display of the flag, then I support you.
I don’t think the thin blue line is against code, unless it used to be a U.S. flag that was physically altered. But taking the symbol of American values, bastardizing it with racist imagery, and pretending they are compatible is offensive to me. Trivializing the symbol is also a bit offensive.
