I can remember reading years ago, that by the book, technically any alteration of the U.S. flag is considered desecration in-and-of-itself. I’m talking changing the number of stars or stripes, the colours therein, etc. What was surprising to me was that its use of things like patterned lawn chairs, t-shirts, underclothes and swimwear, beer cozies, Thin Blue Line patches, etc. are also considered to be desecration by their use on non-flag implements.

TL:DR MAGA chodes constantly desecrating flag by shoehorning it into almost every possible application, up to and including Trump’s face splashed across the center of it.

Technically those aren’t flags that were desecrated. Those are new symbols derived from the flag.

Now, this gets grey because there’s a code that says anything can be used as a flag. However, my understanding is that just because anything with the flag print can be a flag, that doesn’t mean everything is a flag. So, cotton or nylon don’t make a difference. But flag briefs aren’t.

However, all of this is made up. In reality, you’re free to do whatever you want (in theory). And if you consider flag briefs an offensive display of the flag, then I support you.

I don’t think the thin blue line is against code, unless it used to be a U.S. flag that was physically altered. But taking the symbol of American values, bastardizing it with racist imagery, and pretending they are compatible is offensive to me. Trivializing the symbol is also a bit offensive.

Also, feel free to prove me wrong. It’s all made up anyways. And this EO is about as directly un-American as you can get.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
