Thought the Republicans were the champions of “let the states decide” guess that’s out the window when pandering to their hate.

It ended as soon as roe v Wade was overturned and they immediately started angling for national abortion and contraceptive bans. They want to live in a Christian theocracy and their sobbing about States rights (to take away your rights) was all convenient lies for them to get a toehold.

Conservatives say stuff for effects, not for truth or consistency. They are not honest people arguing in good faith.

They’ll say “states rights” when that benefits them and "federal supremacy " when that benefits them. They are not good people.

“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”

Southern states before the civil war: “we want state’s rights to own slaves.”

Also Southern states before the civil war: “we should be able to force northern states to return slaves.”
