    We kinda did, why invade when you can just give a faction that benefits you shittons of diplomatic and financial support to achieve power, then military aid to keep the population from resisting. But this type of approach doesn’t work against countries that don’t let it, hence why you see a different track for Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, North Korea.
