I’ve lived in both but I don’t remember anything distinctive about NJ pizza. The main thing about NY pizza for me is I can walk in, get a slice, and eat it on foot. Though I lived in the NJ suburbs, where “on foot” wasn’t really a thing.
Nah quality is pretty evenly distributed throughout the area. Joe & John’s is squarely in the red section for example. Honestly, midtown Manhattan is mainly chains and bougie shit that barely resembles NYC style
