moments that make you think, things sure could suck even harder if I wasn’t such a nerd

I was ready to jump ship after Google pushed manifest v2 extensions out of their webstore for good 2 weeks ago, but I decided to give uBlock Origin Lite a chance, and it’s surprisingly capable. So far I haven’t seen the difference between full fat uBO besides extra tools like being able to only disable Javascript on a page for example - that was a very neat feature I do miss. But adblocking-wise it’s doing just as well.

My BIL asked me how I was streaming sports so I sent him the site and he complained that the site i sent him to had a bunch of ads. I always forget there are people in the year of our lord 2026 who still don’t use ad blockers. I thought web condoms were widespread by now.

Yeah. It always throws me through a loop when people complain about ads in websites I post.

Some people just seem not to have the allergic reaction to them. Like, they’ll complain but somehow installing a simple adblocker or prioritizing their privacy is too many orders of magnitude of mental labor.

So they’re just accustomed but talkative about it

People will ask me sometimes to take a quick look at their computer and after one glance at the browser I deploy uBlock. I can’t imagine seeing the internet without it.

I haven’t been getting many ads, but I have been having trouble with webpages that break themselves when an ad element doesn’t load on the page. Urban dictionary comes to mind. Would love to hear if someone has a workaround for that
