Trump on Hasan Piker:

Hasan Piker is a terrible liability for the Democratic Party.

He is a communist — there’s no question about it.

The media is obsessed with Hasan, it mirrors the obsession chud youtubers have with him.

It’s kind of terrifying in a way, because someone as irrelevant as Hasan (in terms of actual power) being blasted on the 24/7 news cycle really shows how scared they are when someone shows the slightest amount of leftism and disagreement with liberalism/capitalism.

    • The media is obsessed with Hasan, it mirrors the obsession chud youtubers have with him.

Yea, I think they view him as the reason that people are pro Palestine/ anti Israel now. They are completely wrong of course, but that’s what great man theory does to liberals.

This is a good point. Liberals can only comprehend domestic opposition to the US (or the “West” more broadly) under a framework of social contagion. They are doomed to reverse the cause and effect eternally. Hasan is one prominent example, but this is the case in general. Before Hasan was in the spotlight, widespread hatred of “Israel” was TikTok’s fault. Or going further back, it couldn’t be that the public broadly rejected Hillary Clinton, it had to be Russian bots on Facebook. The public is never allowed to be correct in their judgement of things like “genocide is abhorrent,” or “we need to disarm and dismantle the fucking pigs,” or “Brian Thompson deserved it.” The explanation always has to be that the public is immature, or it’s being tricked. The cause must always be externalized to some “outside agitator.” Why else would the humble slaves raise their scythes in anger against their benevolent masters?

From the Liberal point of view, the institutions are tautologically legitimate. They can never fail. They can only be failed by substandard leadership. They are fundamentally incapable of separating concepts like “democracy” from their idols, the US and “Israel.” They cannot possibly comprehend why the destruction of the US and “Israel” are prerequisites to justice, democracy, civil liberty, academic freedom, cultural inclusivity, world peace, and all the other great things Liberals generally believe in abstract.

I’ve said it before, but Anastasia’s portrayal of the Russian Revolution, as the result of hapless masses ensorcelled by a dark wizard, is unironically how liberals see their opposition.

It’s terrifying (because any of us would get the same [worse?] treatment if we had any prominence or led an effective org/movement), but it heartening to see that it isn’t really working at all. The liberal base is ready to roll right over their own party/media establishment if that’s what it takes to get rid of the Republicans.

There’s a whole lot of leftward momentum that’s going to emerge in the 2030’s, even though it isnt really revolutionary in nature. This is not a bad thing.

I think there is more revolutionary sentiment than people realize, I’ve seen average libs calling for “impeaching every Republican” and cheering on Iranian strikes on Amazon’s facilities, the Mangione fans, etc. They talk about “getting money out of politics” but probably the only way that would be possible would be through a socialist revolution. I do feel heartened by people’s attitude lately, though I’m in a bit less racist area than a lot of the US.

I think there is anti-imperialist sentiment, and even genuinely socialist sentiment for sure. I guess I’m being literal in that i dont think Americans in general have the appetite for the kind of violence that comes with a literal revolution. Curious if it is more than a terminology difference between you and I, though.

My vibe is that historically socialist revolutions have happened at the imperial fringe among populations living under brutal conditions. The imperial core will have its own path, but getting the empire to be even somewhat less hungry to genocide the global south will dramatically change the conditions for our comrades in those countries.

I guess I’m being literal in that i dont think Americans in general have the appetite for the kind of violence that comes with a literal revolution.

I agree, but I think this is typically the case. Good people characteristically aren’t looking for an excuse to commit gratuitous acts of violence. Revolutionary violence usually takes the form of self defense, rather than a spontaneous righteous crusade against the status quo. Consider Minneapolis in 2020. After Derek Chauvin executed George Floyd on camera, people did the “proper” Liberal thing and assembled non-violently to pressure the government to bring criminal charges. For three days, they were surveilled and assaulted with batons and mace and “less lethal” munitions. Without this egregious overreaction from the state, the situation would have never advanced to the point of acute physical skirmishes between activists and police departments reinforced by the National Guard across the country. Within the span of a few short weeks, the situation transformed from the uneasy calm of the Covid quarantine, to the largest domestic uprising seen since the assassination of MLK. The largest Millennials have ever seen in their lifetime, anyway.

This is the pattern I expect to continue playing out. The government is losing its finesse and is reacting with brutality to political forces it was once comfortable ignoring completely. More recently, the crackdown against anti-genocide protesters on college campuses has been another example. Another case of tens of thousands of people applying the “proper” Liberal methods, non-violence, free speech, assembly, and being attacked with lawfare, expulsion, surveillance, SWAT teams, skirmishes with vigilante mobs, chemical weapons, imprisonment, and deportation. While this didn’t advance to the same level of acute crisis, it did transform a handful of largely academic and self-gratifying (for lack of a better term) encampments confined to university grounds into a continuous series of national headlines and much more mobile and chaotic wave of demonstrations.

We saw this again with the skirmishes between anti-ICE activists and “Operation Metro Surge.” We’re still not at the point where we’re just wasting pigs in the street, but acute physical confrontations between the state and the public are becoming much more regular. People are getting killed in these skirmishes. Doctors and mothers. We are already catching visceral glimpses of the battle to come.

We’re far away from having a people’s army, but I think people in general are much more prepared for a rapid pivot to “Plan B” than they were 10 or 20 years ago. The fantasy that any of our problems can be fixed with a march on Congress is thoroughly dead. There is a unanimous inevitability to it. It is only unclear what will be the spark. Which will be the situation that gets totally out of hand?

It likely will fizzle a bit, however this time feels like a repeat of Biden’s election in 2020. In particular it depends on who runs. Is it going to be Kamala again or a similar joke of so-called democracy? There are cracks forming ever since Biden’s handling of COVID and his support of the genocide which has been unpopular all the way through his term.

How much it fizzles might depend on how effectively the Left proves the case for the bourgeois solidarity held between the Dems and Reps. Once it becomes common sentiment that it’s not only Trump but the entire bipartisan group, there will no longer be a scapegoat and it will be hard to contain working class anger.

True, like I’ve said before liberals are pissed to a completely new level because they trusted the plan and voted Biden, voted Kamala, and ended up with Trump (but even worse).

I think that given all that, AOC has a solid (unlikely, but very possible) shot at a presidential run in '28. It’ll be interesting to see what could come out of that situation. Could it be an FDR “stabilize capitalism during it’s worst crisis” sort of thing?

The revolutionary sentiment should exist within the leftist parties for a successful revolution to happen. But leftists who are organizing have learned not to call for a revolution because it will get their org and its leaders targeted by the state.

It is genuinely amazing how this complete bullshit that only a few coterie of lib and fascist propagandists care about could turn into manufactured outrage that is so completely hollow and yet big enough that Trump is actually discussing Hasan by name rather than just vaguely alluding to the 9/11 thing like he did before.

And it’s easy for them to fall into that pattern when the grand majority of (western) popular culture and politics operate that way. Liberalism is the default, treated almost like a natural constant. As much as I despise marvel slop they are dominant in western culture and so a great example. Like half the villains have a legitimate grievance that they address in a direct manner (though in a mustache-twirling evil way) that the “hero” stops because the status quo is obviously correct and the villian is obviously wrong for trying to change anything.

      • don’t be so sure, there’s this ukkkraine obsessed ameriKKKan boomer lib radio host I hate-listen to sometimes who calls anyone who doesn’t support his favorite proxy war a tankie

he also was a biden-alert dead ender even after his brain exploded live during the debate and only stopped when jokermala got the nomination because he’s ultimately a spineless the-democrat paty loyalist but he will still defend biden-the-thing to this day and brings him up unprompted

he calls himself progressive but has displayed a pattern of deference to the establishment except when his audience starts actually pushing back at which point he may shift position slightly but it’s mostly an empty rhetorical shift

perfect example is Palestine, he remained almost completely silent about the genocide until after Trump was back in office so he could blame him and not admit any fault for his blind loyalty to Genocide Joe

another troubling pattern I’ve noticed is his lack of support for Muslim candidates and his inability to call out Islamophobia within his own party

been meaning to make a big effort post about him for almost a year now with the goal of getting a big campaign going to call in en mass to his show and call him out with receipts in a way that hopefully turns his mostly well meaning boomer lib audience against him while radicalizing them but I got delayed and then my computer broke but I may just make a half assed post about him anyway

Nowadays every time conservatives disparage people with accusations of “communism”, they inadvertently make communism seem cooler not only because it “triggers” them, but also because they’re such bloodthirsty and psychosexually stunted dweebs that whatever they don’t like is cool by default. This is naturally quite fine by me but I think there’s gonna be a lot of disappointed youths when they find out about all the reading and how boring it is when things work well after an admittedly exciting lifetime of going from crisis to crisis.

Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of communism, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?

Two things result from this fact:

      I. Communism is already acknowledged by all European powers to be itself a power.

II. It is high time that Communists should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish their views, their aims, their tendencies, and meet this nursery tale of the Spectre of Communism with a manifesto of the party itself.
