Everyone who argues against PT essentially says “I can’t use it [so nobody should]”.

Blow their minds with this one weird trick:

“If everyone else is on a bus, you get the road to yourself!”

This is what gets me. I understand that if like 99% of people stop doing X then it becomes more difficult for you to do/acquire materials for X due to lack of demand.

However, if only 90% swap, you likely can just as easily do X now as before, with less traffic and roadblocks

I argued that with someone last year. They seemed to have a ‘oh yeah’ moment when I told them that.

I’d like to make an argument. Everywhere I have ever lived, other residents have mentioned that their area’s drivers are the worst in the world.

Following that logic, I don’t believe that humans should be driving. Decent public transit is the barest necessity to improve the life quality of average transportation enthusiasts, as it is the only way to reduce the number of people on the road.

I’ve never heard anyone say that here, but apparently our drivers exams are some of the hardest in the world. From what I’ve seen, in a lot of places drivers education is quite bad. There will always be morons though, but if you stop people from driving because of that a lot of jobs become impossible to do for a lot of people. I don’t think it’s feasible to expect a plumber or electrician to take all their tools on the bus.

Regarding the last part of your comment, you’re right, but on the other side there are lots and lots of jobs that need little to no equipment :)

Certainly not meant to create a 0 driver end state, just a closer to 0 driver end state. I’d never steal someone’s ability to become the ghost busters. That is a core tenet of mine.

Be careful not to lean over a little and look in the rearview mirror. You might spot one.

When public transit is sufficiently developed only the morons and enthusiasts will remain on the road.

Just this morning I had someone pull across the road in front of me as I was cycling to work and almost hit me. Fortunately the traffic was slow and I had time to brake or her car would have a much larger dent in the passenger door from me kicking it to avoid going into it head first.

There is only 100m of my 8km commute that is shared with cars. A single T junction along it which is where I was going straight and she turned across into my path.

It means you’re now boarding with the same moron, facing him everyday.

Big win, now he’s at a punchable distance.
