I’m a pro-labour guy, but a McDonald’s employee isn’t an essential worker. Think teachers and nurses.
Tell that to the people who decided McDonald’s employees were just as essential as teachers and nurses during a pandemic. Fwiw, I agree with you. It was ridiculous that places like McDonald’s stayed open during lockdowns, causing millions of people to risk their lives for a pittance
Fat disagree. Who was around during COVID and everyone called essential and then didn’t get anything. Food workers. Including the grocery industry.
I mean, you gotta eat somehow though.
Food is essential. Whatever else McDonald’s is, they feed a LOT of people, and even though a McDonald’s worker is a tiny piece of that, they are still a piece.
If everyone is essential no one is. I am never ever going to forgive my local government for opening the bars before they opened the schools
I drive by a nursing home going to work everyday, and they have a few large banners that say “Our employees are heroes”. I just imagine the manager sending an email that said something to the effect of “We’re putting banners outside to show our appreciation for you… In lieu of a pay raise.”
Throw in a pizza party and you probably nailed it.
Best we can do is blue jeans Tuesday. Your own Jean ofc
They’re still doing pizza parties? I wouldn’t be surprised if those got cut too.
This looks like meatcanyon
Why is Steve Buscemi working fast food tho?
He did this before he was a firefighter.
Me and my wife were both deemed essential workers but our kids school shutdown and neither one of us got a raise. They had a big thank you to essential workers sign on our blocks and most nights I had a fantasy of torching it.
I always thought this comic was funnier without text on the last panel.
Huh, I’d never seen that version.
Omg that art style is awesome and so unsettling
I thought of the aliens from “They Live.”
Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum!
Fartswithanaccent is all out of bubblegum.
LOL at mcdonald’s essential worker
Fun fact: Capitalism is superior to any form of Marxism and there’s literally nothing you could do or say to change that
Another fun fact: Not everything you don’t like is capitalism’s fault.
I’m talking about crapitalism, it’s not real capitalism: It’s unregulated crony bullshit where corporations abuse the system and the government ignores it because money.
Ultimately I think every political and economic system, no matter how ideal on paper, falls apart due to human greed and just straight up evil people
David Graeber would disagree with you.
Which is why I’m all for some AI overlords.
I think economic systems can work reasonably well, provided that it plans for that sort of shit. Nothing will ever be perfect, but things can be improved: Unrestricted capitalism is unsustainable but that doesn’t mean that all aspects of it are inherently bad. Same for some aspects of socialism. The best system that seems to exist so far is a sort of hybrid of the two systems in countries like Denmark where it’s definitely not straight up socialist, but it still has a strong social safety net.
I feel like being against cronyism isn’t really a hot take. Virtually everybody is against cronyism except for the cronies themselves.
So why do economists praise bailouts for the rich?
Sounds about right?
An open mind would research cultural hegemony
Cultural hegemony is literally a Marxist concept that only exists to justify the ideology, not the other way around. No matter which way we slice it, Marxism in all its forms is a failure. It’s a failure both on paper and in practice. It has resulted in just as many, if not more atrocities than fascism… Yet fascism has been rightfully demonized and put to rest, but Marxism hasn’t. It’s time to move past Marxism, it’s wrong and it’ll never work.
I noticed you have the ability to use words, but not the ability to make them true. I once thought myself a Republican. And then I saw how they hate. I once thought myself a Democrat. And then I saw how they lie. I once thought myself a Libertarian. And then I saw how that’s batshit crazy. I once thought myself an Independent. And then I saw how that was vain. I once thought myself a Social Democrat. And then I realized that market failures are built into the system. Now, I’m not sure what I am. I’m still learning, and you should too. But I for damn sure know that I’m not a Capitalist.
If you have the ability to learn, then learn from history. It states very clearly in big bold letters that MARXISM IS A FAILURE
Capitalism is not perfect, it has many problems and requires many adjustments, but despite it’s flaws it is objectively better than Marxism. Why? Because it has actually been proven to work.
Cuba-63 years. China-74 years. Still Marxist, still working.
China stopped being economically Marxist in the 1980s. The only thing that they kept from Marxism was all the authoritarianism. Cuba isn’t doing too hot though, their doctors literally get paid $50 a month
I’ve never met someone smarter than Albert Einstein? I feel humbled.
