I got the house! Party time! Unfortunately 90 day settlement maximum but gives me time to save for the new kitchen and flooring. W00t!

Just been almost non stop AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA from 7am to 4:30pm working with different groups of people on full-attention topics when I normally hardly talk to anyone, AAAAAAing in the rain back home, brief 15 minute interlude to cuddle sox and shove things around, then another AAAAAAA trying to get the suddenly bewildered and upset sox into her carrier (Praise be to Churu), now to AAAAAA in the rain 40 minutes away to do a rundown of cat and house things at the next place before they go away, dinner with them, drive back (hopefully more of an aaaaaaa), then start packing shit like mad because I thought I had all of tomorrow to move over but actually I don’t

Gosh I feel you. I’m used to talking a little bit with my boss for the occasional question or to ask the freelancers to do things, but I’ve been training someone who is my underling (Iunno what to call her tbh, underling sounds fun) and it takes up so much of my day. She’s on holidays but she comes back tomorrow so I imagine I’ll have to do that again. And then having an Uber driver talk to you, like please don’t, I just want to get home. Today’s driver wasn’t so bad, yesterday’s was non-stop.

I enjoy training people in terms of the engagement and reward of seeing people learn something new, but I am absolutely WRECKED by the end of even 2 hours unless I am extremely well prepped. Accomplished but wrecked.

I have been around people so much today - and have another few hours of actively engaging with people tomorrow - that I’ll need to isolate all of Thursday and Friday lol. Seriously considering an out of office message

You know you’ve really hit adulthood when you get a new vacuum cleaner and immediately start vacuuming with excitement to see how much dust it can take (answer - a lot!)

The most unrealistic thing for me in time travel shows and movies isn’t the time travel itself, but the fact that a lot of the time the characters seem chill wearing the period appropriate clothing. Send me back and I’d be spending a hell of a lot of time thinking how utterly stupid I look, I mean it’d be fun, but I wouldn’t be like ok guess this it for me now as put on a pair of 70s platform shoes or some 18th century breeches and stockings.

I think you’d find that you’d adapt very quickly. If everyone else is wearing the sameish clothes you’d get used to it very quickly. The clothes wouldn’t be a fancy costume, or stupid, they’d be normal fashion. Speaking from doing amateur theatre a bit in the past - clothes I wouldn’t be caught dead in out in the street feel quite OK if everyone else is wearing similar. And I survived the 70s platform shoes back when they were normal fashion. Don’t miss them - horrible to walk in but you had to wear them or be square.

Me to bar guy: it literally takes 30 seconds to send a text message to ask someone how they are and show you care.

Him: you’re underestimating the amount of time it takes for me to text

    🤦‍♂️

Last night my kid yells from the kitchen “I really don’t like opening containers in the fridge”. Me " Why not?" Her “because I don’t know what horrors you have stored in them”. I guess she came across my congealed lamb stock with the fat still on the top. Luckily she didn’t get to see the pumpkin I “rejuvenated” ready for tomorrow’s soup.

If anyone has found my brain can they please let me know? Reward offered. Many thanks.

My concentration and focus is totally out the window today, I just spent way too long trying to remember what I was in the middle of doing at work after being interrupted by a phone call. Simple tasks seem way too hard today.

    It’s gonna be a long week…

I know tradies can have a bad rep sometimes, but huge credit to the guy who’s been here for the last two days installing our new fence. He’s done a great job, even in today’s rain. And he was in his teeny-tiny shorts and t-shirt the whole time!

So this methed out woman was banging and yelling around midnight last night, trying to get into the apartments next door. I can hear her now down there again, having a big tantrum and cussing.

There’s a sex worker who marches up and down the street here from time to time, occasionally I’ll wake up with her ranting to herself. She seems to be talking to other people in her mind and it makes me so sad to think of her predicament and know the kind of background to potentially having DID. I know a few people who have systems and it’s just fucking horrendous the lives they led to get them there. I’d love to help her but the one time I asked if she was ok as she was sobbing into a tissue, she said she was fine, then hurled abuse at me when I was about 50 metres down the road.

Found the rest of my old school reports while sorting stuff. My God some of those teachers’ remarks were removed.
    Fire will be therapeutic, methinks.

Was threatened by a methhead on Separation Street out Northcote way this morning. I’ve reported it to the cops (who actually took me seriously, I’m kinda shocked), but is there anything else I should be doing? On my way to work right now but feeling super unsafe.

I’m sorry. I’ve been seeing a few people post about this. Unfortunately the housing crisis, decades of mental health cuts, increased costs of living and lack of supports over covid seem to have worsened it

Indeed. This country (and tbh, the west) is fucked, and this is but a symptom of it. I’m just gonna focus on not letting it get to me for now.

Sounds awful, hope you’re ok. I don’t think there’s much else you can do. If confronted again best thing is to avoid engaging and if possible move to somewhere where there are other people around. They will hopefully loose interest and go elsewhere. When they’re in a rage there’s nothing you could say/do. Just avoid. I saw one in a shopping centre car park at the weekend yelling ‘what the fuck you’re looking at cunts’ and marching aggressively down the lanes. Took the long way back to may car to avoid crossing paths. I wish meth didn’t exist.

Thanks mate. I fully agree; both the users and the general public are endangered by it. Ultimately though we need to better police sales and importation; by the time it’s in people’s hands, it’s too late.
