If they wanted equal pay, they should get higher paying jobs like doctor or lawyer instead of lower paying jobs like woman doctor or woman lawyer.

i mean, i’m nonbinary. the assaults i’ve had from men are more severe, but they are from far fewer men. the assaults i’ve had from women are far, far less severe, but women in general seem comfortable assaulting people in broad daylight.

I was gonna say that some of this is also probably sentencing bias. Subjectively the correlation seems too strong to not have some truth to it. I also have other data to support male = higher violence risk largely outside of perceptual bias.

As an example from my area of expertise, men complete suicide more often because they typically choose deadlier means (guns especially) vs women are more likely to attempt something like a drug overdose which is more reversible / leaves more opportunity for aborting the attempt. There’s not a lot of room in those stats for perceptual bias, dead is dead and alive is alive. It’s basically a known fact that men are more violent to themselves. I won’t get too much into the stats of violence against others except to say that the statistical predictor tool I’ve used for that in institutional environments didn’t use “male,” it used “male under 30y/o.”

On the other end of perceptual errors almost govern criminal sentencing. Entrusting a group of people to judge an event reduces some but not all of the perceptual bias, but certainly can’t eliminate it. And I do also have my own subjective / experiential perspective that is similar but in some ways inverted to yours (but is also almost certainly occurring in a 100% different environment):

When I first started in my field I was told and found to be true that when you’re breaking up a fight between men all you need to do is break eye contact. You get between them back to back with a coworker and if you can’t block their sightline to each other with your bodies you shove one of them around a corner. And that’s it. Within about 30 seconds they’re in tension reduction talking about their feelings in that emotionally constipated way western men do (“he just made me so mad!”). Otoh I was told and found to be true that you let the women go at it until the entire code team arrives from your surrounding units because you’re going to basically have to do a full restraint episode for each woman.

(Sorry I have lots of thoughts about violence it’s actually kinda my area of professional expertise.)

that is why conservatives and TERFS are afraid of women in general, they would lose thier ability to feed a war machine, industrial complex fattening defense contractors, plus they would have more control over thier bodies.

Y’know what, this stuff is sexist. It would be completely expected and socially supported for women to defend themselves against such odd claims, but when men do this, it’s because they’re “insecure”, or “whiny”. This is nothing but the projection of patriarchal approach to men as the ones shrugging it off meant to silence them against the clear gender war bullshit.

But then again, we’re in the shitposting community.

Other “stats” are also both exaggerated or omit nuance.

For example, men actually do commit 85% of murders (not 95%, though) and comprise 81% of victims, so it’s mostly men killing other men.

Not to mention the fact that among ~170.000.000 men living in the US, 13469 of them, which is 0,008%, committed murder in 2024 - and that’s in the country with high crime rate, high police violence, and quite a few gangs still existing one way or another. The chance of a regular person to be a murderer is even lower.

If you go to the social media like Facebook and Instagram and look at stuff people post from objective point of view both sexes are equally bad at posting sexist shit. And yet if you go to real world, like a bar or some different social gathering place nothing of this shit matters.

It’s just social media brainwashing by corporations which encourage these kind of idiot content for profit, nothing else.

True! But I’m concerned that, as more young people have Internet as their primary third place and communication platform, more will be dragged into this bullshit for real, so, whether we like it or not, it’s an important place to consider. I already see the social media takes proliferate in the real world, one way or another.

I believe moderators should take more care to eliminate such harmful content from discussion, while we as users can take greater care to neuter it. Then we could start reclaiming normality in our communication despite the efforts to distract and engage.

But they do commit ~50% of spouse murders, so at least thet have that for them?

Oh, and the women are vastly underrepresented in the victim statistics.

Interestingly, some researchers when they control for provocation, do find that the difference is because of gender norms, and without them the violence rates equalize - see https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2F0033-2909.119.3.422

Another fun fact, when it comes to incarceration rates women do tend to get more lenient sentences because they are women (and act pitiful on the trail) - however it is slowly changing as more and more judges slowly learn to ignore that bullcrap.

Sources and initial readings can be found in this wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_differences_in_crime

    It is fun :)

I didn’t read the linked article but from skimming the intro, it seems they found that unprovoked men are more likely to be violent but hell hath no fury like a provoked woman?

I initially connected your previous sentence, so I incorrectly thought it was the victim statistics that evened out, and the disparity was because the male victims were provoking, i.e. asking for it.

Violence comes from insecurity and social unease and suffering. The best way to make those things happen is shaming men instead of promoting men mental health and gender consciousness. Teaching them that patriarchy is not their fault and that the best way to fix their problems is breaking out of the system itself

education plays a big part in thier feelings too, thats why its being slashed or neglected everywhere. better to keep people ignorant and stupid to control them. of course this wont fix it entirely as even the “educated with degrees” are susceptible but due to other factors involved too.

It’s really not that strategic. It’s that ignorant people don’t see the value in education. So school boards get filled with loud asshole people who barely made it out of high school, shouting at each other “muh kids don’t need tuh know how anything works, cuz I don no how nutn works an I’m OK!”

Undereducated people rarely act in their best interests, but they act all the time because they’re filled with fear and unable to rationalize or plan their way out of it. It’s a spiral, not a strategy.

All this does is return to the old ways of private schools operating as class-based-Jim Crow. Sort of sad, we had 2 or 3 generations at most that really benefited from American public schooling before it all wobbled apart from second and third-order effects.

Where did you read that? He clearly states a problem with men, but no where in that text it said anything about comparing men’s problems to women’s problems.

Men can have problems too. Just because of that doesn’t make women’s problems less bad.

Don’t put words into people’s mouth.

A big issue with men’s problems is exactly your response. As soon as they have a problem, there’s a reaction like “look at women, they have it worse” insinuating men’s problems have no right to exist.

Can we please acknowledge both men and women have their own problems, without the need to compare them? Without saying that because of one’s problem, the other has no right to have have any? Both ways.

…if we just had more women doing revenge killings for the things men did to them, we’d be well on our way!
