Nazis killed 13 million people in WW2, Israel killed 80,000 in this war. I think most people here can agree Israel is historically evil, but let’s not play genocide Olympics with Nazis, not a good look.

All of our middle eastern direct deaths combined are under 1 million. But even a single death in war is horrific.

There is no need to compare suffering. If anything comparing against an outsized disaster like WW2 only serves to minimize how horrific all of these present day wars are, even if the death tolls are smaller. I think people get some weird perversion in comparing Israel to Nazis, its just weird, imo. Highlight the actual horror that is happening today.

Nazi Germany was overwhelmingly Christian, but Christianity has about as much to do with Naziism as Judaism has to do with Zionism.

Christianity has about as much to do with Naziism

Yet neo-Nazis will say that Jews are a primary opponent to Jesus Christ and have made themselves enemies of God to justify their antisemitism

There’s millions of Christian Zionists enabling this. The entire United States and a good portion of the west in general is just as guilty as Israel for allowing this to continue. Israel continuing to claim to represent all Jews while committing war crimes is antisemitism. Don’t drink the koolaid and blame “Jews” it’s the Zionist oligarch interests and colonialism fueling this fire.

The UN only intervenes on geopolitically weak targets that aren’t protected by member states who hold veto power. That’s why it’s only ever used against targets like African war lords. Israel’s protected by the US in that regard.

To clarify, which land are you referring to? The land being bombed, or the land firing the bombs?

In which land do the people need to be “ready for peace” before peace can occur?

The people in both must be ready for peace… in case that was not obvious.

Israel’s actions in Gaza are semi-justified on security grounds.

Israel’s actions in the West Bank, much less so. I think friends of the Palestinian cause would get a lot more traction and sympathy by talking more about the West Bank and less about Gaza. Gaza’s fate is sealed, and it will be a grim fate. Gaza is doomed. Tunnels will be destroyed, HAMAS neutralized, the cities ravaged, and when it’s all done Israel will hand the mess back to the inhabitants to deal with.

Germans in the 1940’s paid a grim price for bad political decisions they made in the 1930’s

And it was a collective price, even if you weren’t a Nazi, and even if you didn’t vote for Hitler.

This is no different. Palestinians have been on the wrong side of things for 80+ years. Eventually the bill comes due for decades of bad political decisions (coupled with a lack of international support outside of extremist regimes in the region.) and the price must be paid. We are seeing that now, occurring in real time. Maybe the next generation will be ready for peace. There always seems to be another generation that follows the current one, no matter how many bomb vests they strap on their children.

How about some google pics of the underground tunnels used to store weapons, and paid for by Iran. The target the IDF is really after in Gaza. So little discussion of that among all the pics of dead babies and talk of genocide.

Absent historical context, the pics mean nothing. For that matter, all the deaths mean nothing too, absent proper context.

        you missed the point.

        it wasn’t about Nazis.

it’s about a group of people who constitute a political entity making bad choices (for decades now…) pursuing doomed policies and doomed courses of action.

We’re watching this play out in real time in Gaza right now.

Palestinians have been tooting that horn for 80+ years and nobody outside a few radical actors in the region cares. Even Iran just needs Palestinians as cannon fodder. So toot that horn for 80 more years if you like, but don’t expect much to change in the wider world. That narrative has no traction in international politics outside the region.

Here’s the part I don’t get: What do these assholes think happens NEXT?

Like, let’s say the worst fears are Plan A. They wipe out all the palestinians and steal all their land. They build a new Pedo Class Playland there. Luxury condos and all that.

And I guess…suicide bombers, drones, missiles, and snipers no longer exist? This piece of sand that’s been warred over for thousands of years, it just goes peaceful? Come the fuck on.

I can’t imagine the several remaining countries and the rest of the world sitting idly by and just waiting for them to complete the Greater Israel Project. Then again, I wouldn’t have imagined the rest of the world would’ve allowed what has already happened in Gaza so far.

Yes but Palestine has/had next to no representation in the UN, and almost no major political allies. Most of the nations that had always supported them are viewed as hostile/adversarial. So there was very little outrage on any diplomatic stage that matters, over the atrocities happening to Palestinians. At least until the extent of the atrocities became public, widespread, and undeniable.

On the other hand, nations like Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, these have more diplomatic leverage than Palestine ever did even at the height of the Palestinian Authority and the negotiations in the 90s.

There’s no way in hell the global stage will be as passive when those other nations are in the crosshairs. Even Syria and Lebanon would be a stretch.

Not that it’s morally justified for them to be treated differently, but realistically speaking yes there’s a difference in how they will be treated.
