Rogan just went full covid brainrot. I used to listen regularly during his early podcasts and especially the redban era when it was mostly just the wasteland feeling after Occupy Wall Street failed. Jamie curbed to show down the alt right pipeline and it felt less like comedians hanging out.

It’s been weird where it’s been about a decade since I listened and it feels so remarkably different when I see a clip after he hits the news with some nonsense guest.

Clearly full MAGA then. Litter boxes are a definite give-away. Luckily the rest of us never fall for fake news.

He’s not FULL maga. He just doesn’t care who he has on his show or what he says as long as it improves his bottom line.

Joe panders to the specific flavor of ‘bro’ who is fart joking his way through life while trying to get Max Gainz and fetishizing women because they don’t get laid enough. I don’t know if there’s a specific term for this persona, so I’m going to call it the Brogan.

He claims to not support Trump, but seems to defend him all the time:

He recently defended Trump regarding the trial verdict: https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-barack-obama-joe-rogan-tony-hinchcliffe-podcast-1909438

He defended Trump to Bill Maher on his podcast: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/joe-rogan-bill-maher-trump-biden-1235581529/

Said Joe Biden is mentally unfit while citing something that Trump actually said: https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/joe-rogan-fact-checked-biden-trump-revolutionary-war-airports-1235849684/

He even said he would vote for Trump over Biden in 2020: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/04/joe-rogan-donald-trump-joe-biden-bernie-sanders

Nothing in that indicates he has gone “full MAGA” Even the article about him rather voting for Trump seems to focus more on Joe’s praise of Bernie Sanders.

He’s basically saying that old age is affecting the mental capabilities of Biden more that Trump and given only these two options he’d rather vote for Trump who he then also called “crazy and a sociopath”. I don’t agree with the conclusion but I agree with the claim he’s making; Biden’s mental capabilities are clearly deteriorating at much faster pace that Trump. Neither of those two are fit for the job in my opinion.

I just find it hilarious that people treat Joe as if he is some full blood concervative when he has voted democrat or independent his whole life and by most of his values would be labeled as liberal.

Because that dosen’t effect what he’s doing now. Trump was exclusively a Democrat most of his life. Who he’s been for the last 8 years is a much bigger deal than who he has been before no matter the time.

If to want to seriously consider what Rogan does with his platform, you need to look at what he signal boosts, and what taking points he repeats, and if he’s a part of the alt fight pipeline. That’s what matters right now. If that drastically changes a year from now, it also becomes pretty irrelevant to what he’s currently doing.

There’s literally thousands of hours of audio of him talking. If he’s full MAGA then it shouldn’t be hard to find dozens of clips that directly demonstrate this. And I mean directly - not ones that you need to perform mental acrobatics first to squeeze out the meaning from that one wants. Repeating some of the talking points only shows that he’s actually thinking about things instead of simply adopting the views of his side. If one agrees with none of the talking points of the opposing side then that’s frankly just a demonstration of their bias towards their own group. Any real independent thinker would have some views that align with the right and some with the left.

It’s always amusing when people who don’t even listen to his podcast act as if they knew him better than the ones who do despite the fact that they’re getting their info from biased online articles when the other group gets it directly from the source. Once you actually listen the full episode and then compare it to the articles written about it it’s hilarious how disingenuously he’s being represented on the news. This applies to so many other podcasters as well. Joe’s been quite consistent in his views over the past 6 years or so. He definitely flirts with the right especially when accompanied with such quest but the claim about him having gone full MAGA is blatantly false.

God Damn. You’re REALLY hung up on a lot of shit I didn’t say. I’m sorry man, I never said ‘‘full MAGA’’ if you really want to have a Harvard debate about very specific words, then you don’t get to put words in my mouth. I’m sorry you can’t grasp what I did say, because it’s not what you’re losing your shit about.

                Lets try again.

if you want to understand who Joe Rogan is and what he does with his platform. -->YOU <–need to look at what he signal boosts. That’s content he chooses to talk about or people he books and how he treats the content, with questioning, or passively presenting. -->YOU<-- need to look at the talking points he uses. -->YOU<-- need to understand what the alt right pipeline is, and consider if Rogan is a part of it or not, willingly or not, by your own understanding.

You responded to this by saying I can’t prove Rogen is ‘‘full MAGA’’, which is SHIT I NEVER SAID, because I can’t comb through thousands of hours of his show and find EXACTLY the definition you personally have decided ‘‘full MAGA’’ means.

I’m not your teacher, I’m not holding your hand and presenting information you will arbitrarily reject or not.

Like I said before. YOU need to look into it. Or, you can be ignorant. The choice is yours.

Dude, it’s not my fault you got blinded by anger and lost sight of what we’ve been talking about here this whole time.

A person implied Joe has gone full MAGA. I asked for examples. You started linking articles. Yes, you didn’t say that but you started defending the guy who did. If you don’t agree with the original claim then why the heck are you sending me those articles? If it wasn’t such an ridiculously easy claim to shoot down I wouldn’t even have bothered replying.

Joe has not gone full MAGA. If you think he has then the burden of proof is on you - the person making the claim. If you don’t hold that belief then you’ve simply been wasting your time with this debate since the very beginning.

If you take the word of a Hollywood comedian for facts, you have gone full fucking stupid.

No one that listens to him takes what he or his guests say seriously, unless he rarely features a scientist talking uninterrupted for three hours, which I cannot find anyone else who does this.

RIP Phil Hartman. After he died the show wasn’t the same and it just kinda faded away. So it wasn’t a cult classic that got cancelled too soon kind of thing. But also not a show that ran more a long time.

But one of favourite shows of all time. The cane episode was one the best half hours of TV of all time.

What sort of respect are you referring to when you say stuff like this? It feels like people these days judge everyone by the same standards they would a politician and that seems really odd to me. Comedians are supposed to say edgy stupid shit. That’s quite literally their job.

You’re certainly entitled to your own opinion on the artistic merit of that kind of comedy but I don’t think there’s any denying that’s what it is. Nevertheless, why would you look to any artist, especially comedians, for balanced political discussion? That’s not what they do. Even the ones that talk about politics are doing it more for the laughs than the nuanced discussion. If any comes from their jokes that is a side benefit, not the primary purpose.

Joe Rogan has a recorded, on stage set, where he straight up says something like:

“Do not take my advice on anything. You shouldn’t listen to me. I’m an idiot! I don’t know shit; I just make jokes for a living.”

I guess people listened and then didn’t follow the above advice. 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s how he lends credibility to everything that airs on his show. It is disarming enough to help the listener extend that sentiment toward the guest long enough to explain whatever lunatic theory.

And then you’re listening to the guest, not Rogan so…

He’s been doing the podcast since 2009.
