Well the mercury symbol ☿ is literally used for intersex people. They also have ⚥ which in my mind implies a catastrophic crashing of planets.

To my understanding, the points at the top represent the wings that the god Mercury/Hermes had on his helmet.
The planet Mercury, being the closest to the sun, appeared to travel quickly as it went about its orbit (only taking roughly 88 days to go around the sun once.) As such, the ancients associated it with a god known for traveling swiftly - Mercury (known as Hermes in Greek mythology), the messenger of the gods.

Fun fact: Ceres is considered a dwarf planet like Pluto. The only one in the inner solar system, though I believe they are still evaluating Vesta for dwarf classification.
