I don’t read r/conservative much but what I’ve seen is they keep banning actual conservatives because they correctly call out what Trump is doing on things where it’s not about left and right but right and wrong.

Some people are saying that it could be coincidental. OP asks why would the two accounts who post so regularly just happen to both stop at the same time on that day.

I remember when Russia cut itself off from the internet for like 3 days, and virtually every social media site I frequented was a lot calmer and nicer for those days. It was surreal seeing how fucking much of the internet is just Russia.

Virtually every major outlet for the right wing is, in some way shape or form, controlled by fascist foreign actors. Especially Russia.

All the dumb-fuck faux leftists supporting Russia over Ukraine, claiming Ukraine has a major Nazi problem, need to open their fucking eyes and see Russia is the biggest exporter of Nazism world wide.

the best part of all of it…is the reveal twitter had a couple weeks ago, where they put access location and registration location as publicly visible…for all of 5 minutes, revealing the fact that most big head conservative twitter accounts are foreign controlled psyop/propaganda outlets.

Crazy how the right wing just absolutely ignores that 98% of all the big totally patriotic american twitter accounts telling them what to do and how to feel come from russia, belarus, etc etc.

Because those aren’t actual communists, they’re tankies.

Tabkies don’t have any actual principles, let alone any beliefs whatsoever.

Their beliefs are solely anti-West and that is it. It doesn’t matter what contradictions or outright lies they must embrace. As long as the narrative is anti-West, they’re 100% on board.

If we invade Venezuela or even continue to steal oil tankers, is argue we’re at least the same of level fascism as Russia. Prageru is insane I’ve heard that some schools have prageru in the classrooms. It’s hard to imagine that we aren’t on the same path as Putin was. We could elect the coolest socialist women president ever and the supreme Court would still be there to prevent any progressive legislature. We suck

It’s not about the fact of cracking down on minorities, but about the specific language used, specific policies introduced and changes made. Think of any part of Trump’s crackdown on trans rights and you’ll find direct equivalents to it in Putin’s recent policies that preceded it. There are many ways to be transphobic, but they land on the same themes and talking points pushed by the right-wing figures who take Russian money.

In this instance, I’m talking specifically about Trump, but Russia’s influence on Europe is also undeniable, though not always as crystal clear. They have their own people in the European parliaments and intelligence from the likes of Schröder, in addition to paying the likes of Le Pen, running the troll factories, creating fake news, and so forth.

I think it’s rarely done as a direct order. More often than not, it’s a combination of all those things, best illustrated by when the Russian government and its trolls paid for Facebook ads and pretended to be American activists, getting people inside America out to protest for both guns rights and against them, as well as for BLM and for the likes of Trump. They’ve done the same in Africa and other regions. One of the goals is to create division not only to weaken but also to use domestically, as Putin’s justification for his “strong hand” leadership has often been to point at the “chaotic” and “soulless” West and ask if the population wants the same in Russia.

I never said fascism wasn’t homegrown in the US.

I am saying the majority of fascist figureheads and “discussion controllers” are either foreign hostile actors, or associated with foreign hostile actors in some way.

        Ex: Russia, Israel, etc.

Yes, it’s important to understand that America does not actually have any homegrown problem with right wing extremism, and certainly doesn’t need to consider if any structural or societal issues have caused these problems. The issue is foreigners; foreigners who have been allowed too much influence and control. The solution to America’s issues is to stop being so lenient with foreigners.

claiming Ukraine has a major Nazi problem, need to open their fucking eyes and see Russia is the biggest exporter of Nazism world wide.

Exactly; the fact that Russia has Nazis means that it is by definition impossible for Ukraine to have a Nazi problem. They are diametrically opposed.

Was just going for some pedantic levity. I just mean that there’re significantly more people in the world who live outside of any given country than in.

If you hypothetically had a 50/50 agree/disagree ratio with the average person, the majority of people you’d disagree with would be foreign to you.

But that’s just because the majority of people in general are foreign to you, though. Not because of any specific ideology. So you’d also probably agree with more foreigners than anyone else, too.

I guess maybe my undoing hinges on the word “secretly”?

I could reply to this using the exact same reasoning, but with arguments switched.

“Yes, it’s important to understand that Russia does not actually have any homegrown problem with nazis, and certainly needs our support in the war. The issue is Ukraine; Ukraine which has been given too much support. The best thing to do for leftists worldwide is supporting Russia in their war against nazis.”

“Exactly; the fact that the US have a homegrown problem with right wing extremism means that it is by definition impossible for other countries to manipulate it, exacerbate it, or even be its primary cause. They are diametrically opposed.”

Do you disagree with the arguments that:

-There’s definitely more nazis in Russia than in Ukraine, therefore supporting Russia because Ukraine has a “nazi problem” makes no sense

        and

-Foreign countries could’ve caught wind of the right wing extremism starting to rise in the US and therefore decided to exploit it through foreign actors, propping it into mainstream political discourse, making both things true?

Because that’s what was being argued.

This explains why they sent a bunch of rust bucket soviet tanks into ukraine. It seemed to have the opposite effect when they got blown up though. This feels like a deeply risky strategy with the risk being a mix of blowback and rallying your enemies.

The plan doesn’t account for one universal law: Russians always lie and steal.

In this case the people in charge of psyops in Ukraine pocketed the budget and just sent “yep, all good” reports upstream.

On the other hand, things are working really well on social media. Go on any TikTok video about the Ukraine war or about EU internal politics and within 1-2 minutes you have people arguing with VERY specific talking points and have 50+ likes.

And you can see when they escalate the basic talking points to Tier 2 Arguers, I had one guy claiming to be Irish know very very very specific things about some EU investigation that happened in Ukraine around 2012. Stuff that NOBODY cares about unless you’re a hardcore Russia fan, a Russian disinfo bot or in a very specific place on the spectrum.

imo exactly what’s happened with russia… pre-full-scale invasion nobody gave a shit about russia… even crimea tbh people were mostly indifferent

now? i dont know anyone real that doesn’t think the whole country can go to hell, and that russia always lies

the standard reaction to hearing about undersea cables being cut is: fuck russia; we should bomb their fucking ships those absolute cunts - even if we have no idea if it’s russia or not!

win or lose in ukraine, russia has lost so much - at least for the short-term

Though at some point, when the same thing happens many times with many different people, one must consider that they may possibly be the problem.

Anyway, you must have done something pretty bad to be banned from the Manchester United community haha, I can’t imagine they’re a strict bunch xD And the conversation would only be about football, after all.

I think it’s here, but the tactics are a little different.

What I’m seeing are political posts that stand a good chance of rallying people, uniting a front of some kind, and yielding fruit that could very well be positive action.

Trolls/state-actors/whoever see this and sow dissent and start pointless arguments, tying up over 50% of the visible space for discussion under the post. These cats are incredibly good at crafting troll-bait and it shows: the chaos crowds out everything good going on. And this happens every, single, time. It’s hard to see this and not think that it’s orchestrated somehow.

Also, if you keep a tally of the flavor of troll-bait being put out there, patterns emerge. Nudging people to start a US civil war is a very common one.

I think all mods would have to do is disallow changes of topic under threads, forcing them out to the top-level. That may cure any toxic piggybacking, letting the trollbait languish further down the page or get down-voted appropriately.

Trump thinks nicknames are worthy, because he thinks it hurts feelings (don’t forget, his development fully arrested around the 4th grade), which means it would also hurt his feelings if he was called names.

And I love to see his feelings hurt. He should never live a day of peace in life, in which he isn’t constantly worrying and fighting about how much literally everyone he knows, and doesn’t know, despises and disrespects him.

My preferred name for him is HitlerPig, ever since I heard that was the name the younger staffers in the Biden White House called him.

I think most people find the nicknames tiresome and I personally think less of anyone I see writing stupid shit like that. Could be a psyop to discredit Trump detractors by making them seem ridiculous with all the dumb name calling. Outside of a particular bubble you never see that shit.

I’m not defending Russia or the south. But going “it’s not racist if it’s true” is what hillbillies say after they make a racist statement about black people.

Conservative used to actually be kind of split. I remember back in the day, maybe around 2010 or so, could have been later, there were a bunch of people who said things like the state staying out of marriage is a conservative position. I guess more of the libertarian type folks but still, it was more ideologically diverse back then.

That ideological diversity did not just fade on its own. Over the past decade it has been actively pruned away. Spaces like r/conservative now routinely permaban anyone who steps outside an approved line, including the kind of libertarian arguments that used to be common. What remains is a tightly controlled echo chamber that presents itself as grassroots discussion while functioning more like propaganda. Given that shift, it is hard to take it seriously as a place for real conservative debate.

thats just conservative media as a whole its a psyop to make people not pay attention to real issues by distracting gullible people by making them believe silly conservative ideas that ultimately end up biting them in the ass later. Its just business to these outlets and influencers, theyre paid by how good they are at painting a picture even if it isnt backed up at all by reality.

The title is misleading at best. I’m sure 30-50% of the content are bots, but the link to Moscow is… let’s say tenuous. There is no good source for a blackout in Moscow, only in a minor city (100k inhabitants) of the Moscow area called Zhukovsky according to one of the comments in the post. Russia is a country with 150 million inhabitants, searching for blackouts anywhere in the country on one event of reduced bot activity isn’t real science, and doesn’t point to any kind of causation.

Further down in the post, if you read it, you can even see OP was using problematic methodology and had to point to another post. You’re literally just going by the words of a random reddit user at this point. This is conspiracy theory level shit, guys, you can do better than this.

Edit: link to the corrected reddit post by the same user. Look at the fifth graph provided. Amazing that 350 people upvoted this conspiracy shit, you guys have a serious problem over at .world

Edit 2: @BoycottTwitter@lemmy.zip do you have anything to reply at all to this? Don’t you think your post is disinformation, or at least the title?

I tried improving it by updating the title and description. Even looking at the corrected image we still see disruptions in posting on that day and OP asked a question: why did they both happen to stop on that day despite having such regular posting habits?

You can be honest and say you have an agenda posting this because of your political opinions, but it is disinformation. Without any link to Russia other than a localized blackout in a minor city in the Moscow region (not part of Moscow, as your post implies, but Moscow Oblast), you could equally make the guess that the posters/bots were on holidays because of Halloween/Día de Muertos and didn’t make posts because of expected low engagement.

The fact that you’re trying to push a link between the two a-priori unrelated events, even if you frame it under “I’m just asking questions”, has a deliberate attempt, and my worry is not exclusively with you as a single individual doing this, but the 500 conspiracy-brained upvotes taking this shit and nothingburger to the frontpage.

curious what rhetoric you mean? they just pointed out that this looks like a conspiracy theory with tenuous evidence.

the oop is attributing posting patterns changing on a US subreddit to a power outage in the middle of the night in some random city with 100k people in Russia, when it was also a holiday (Halloween) in the entire US.

i don’t think that it is aggressive to point out that this is a silly correlation that is actually disinformation when framed this way - lots of people are going to just read the title, upvote, and move on with all their predisposed biases feeling confirmed

no, my argument is that this is comically tenuous evidence.

its like saying that there was a power outage in New York City because Poughkeepsie has a power outage. then concluding that it is evidence of a US troll farm because it coincided with a dip in traffic on reddit during a major holiday.

Buddy, I’m a communist. I hate the Putin regime. You haven’t talked about this in .world at all, but last week 3 communists in Russia were trialed and condemned to 12 years in jail for reading Lenin, but those are commies so you and our mass media don’t give a fuck. I have personal loved ones suffering the results of the government and the sanctions. So don’t fucking tell me I’m a Russian simp.

The thing is, unlike you, I don’t blame every cancer of the cancerous west on a foreign nation. If there had been this platform 20 years ago and you and I had been in it, you’d be calling me a Hussein simp for complaining that there’s no evidence of weapons of mass destruction. If it were 35 years ago, you’d be calling me a Kuwait simp for requesting caution when listening to Nayirah’s testimony. And now it is 2025 and you call me a Russian simp because I’m a European citizen more concerned with our own fascist politicians who wants good diplomatic and economic relations with Russia and who believes that most of the problems between Europe and Russia come from the US (successful) attempts to antagonize the country, because believe it or not, history did not begin in February 2022.

There are not so many things I dislike more than defending Putin’s Russia, but you’re right.

The window is too tiny to draw any sensible conclusions, even the Reddit OP admits that. Even more, the shutdown in Zhukovsky was from 11pm to 1.30 am:

The whole narrative would’ve been stronger if there was a bot farm reported in Zhukovsky independently

Conservative_memes is full of indians posting about American politics. You used to be able to see posting history until reddit wanted to protect the spammers

I assume by Indians you mean Russians. It is well known than Russia is the country behind all evil on earth

Could be Russians also spamming Indian subreddits.

I wrote a post about it on Reddit calling it out, and it got taken down. My investigation was finding a dozen posters who posted a lot of “libtard”-esque posts with Biden or Kamala in conservative_memes, and then having lots of posts on like Bollywood, Indian food, and Indian politic subreddits.

India and russia are pretty close, for whatever reason, I’ve had some distant family move to russia, and they talk about it how immigrants talk about america here? Like an opportunity.
