What can I say? The music is good and catchy as fuck. Incredible vocals, great production, great lyricism. Nothing to be embarrassed about

it might have just been me, but when i streamed the movie it looked about 20fps instead of the standard !<24. gave it a neat, stylized pseudo stopmotion look, but after half an hour of watching (and a few years in a stopmotion studio) i got rather tired of it.

The movie itself was fine, I wasn’t blown away by it. Idk about your animation issues, but I thought the animation was fun as heck. For a movie experience I’d probably give it like 6.5-7/10. Again, a fine movie… nothing really groundbreaking in terms of story telling and writing. The magic is all in the music and the characters, I think. Which cuts to the core of KPop fandom, I think.

Haha yip that’s the top album for me, this checks out. Apparently I/we are a top 1% global fan with 667 minutes listened to.

My fiancee is against it (one of them is only 5, so that’s totally fair) so I get to be the cool (step) dad any time she’s got a work dinner or travel 😁 this has, completely seriously, greatly accelerated our relationship, lol

Haha! I live in Korea and have a daughter who was not-so-briefly completely obsessed with this movie. I know all of the words at this point. English and Korean. I didn’t mind at first. It’s starting to drive me a bit nuts, now. Also, it is some pretty blatant propaganda for the grist mill that is the Kpop industry. Despite the subtle nods to the contrary.

I watch it yesterday with my daughter. I actually loved it.

Now it’s stuck on my playlist betweew “best of 2000s nightcore”, “Vivaldi the 4 seasons” and “DragonForce”.

Spotify bots struggle a bit to profile me.

Reason 1: my kid loves it.

Reason 2: it genuinely is good music.

Reason 3: it’s a good movie. Watched it along multiple times by now and it still is entertaining.

Reason 4: this movie pisses of conservative religious nutcases.

Reason 5: it’s a wonderful story about forgiving yourself and others, inclusivity, overthrowing evil tyrants, overcoming differences, growing,…

Reason 6: somehow this movie pisses of conservative religious nutcases.

On account of Dan Ek’s bullshit, have cancelled Spotify this year in favour of Qobuz, and am much happier all round.

Last year’s ‘wrapped’ was just AI generated slop. After a year of listening to metal and electronica, got a top five of stuff that I’m not sure I’d listened to at all. Who would have thought the great plagiarism machine, trained to produce the most average output from any given input, would not do well on input that diverges from the mean?

I’d probably have preferred a completely random K-Pop selection; might have been an interesting listen, try out something new.
